Ruf (knee) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf has been sidelined since early June due to a non-displaced fracture in his right kneecap, so he'll probably need several rehab games to get back up to speed. The 37-year-old holds a weak .224/.333/.286 batting line in 57 major-league plate appearances this season between San Francisco and Milwaukee.

Ruf has a non-displaced fracture of his patella in addition to a deep laceration in his right knee, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
That explains why it was necessary to transfer him to the 60-day injured list. Ruf probably won't need surgery since the fracture is non-displaced, but it's still something which usually requires a 6-to-8 week absence. He suffered the injury last Friday when he collided with the tarp while chasing after a pop-up.

The Brewers transferred Ruf (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The right knee laceration Ruf sustained last Friday when he collided with the tarp evidently must have been a serious one. As a result of his move to the 60-day IL, Ruf won't be eligible for activation until early August.

The Brewers placed Ruf on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right knee laceration.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf had to be pulled from Friday's game against Cincinnati after colliding with the tarp while chasing a foul ball, and apparently the damage was significant enough to warrant him being shut down for 10 days. Jon Singleton was selected from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Ruf was pulled from the Brewers' game against Cincinnati on Friday due to a right knee laceration, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf came up bleeding after colliding with the tarp while chasing a foul ball, and now the Brewers have confirmed the nature of his injury. Still no word on how long Ruf may be out for, but chances are he's able to avoid the IL.

Ruf was pulled from Friday's game against the Reds with an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf ran into the tarp while chasing a foul ball and came up bleeding from his leg. The Brewers will likely provide an update on his status relatively soon, but he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Ruf is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf has seen a good amount of playing time since joining the Brewers in mid-May, even taking some turns at leadoff, but he'll head to the bench Wednesday versus the Jays and right-hander Alek Manoah. William Contreras is filling the DH role with Victor Caratini playing catcher. Rowdy Tellez will cover first base.

Ruf is serving as the Brewers' designated hitter and batting leadoff Tuesday night against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf could be in for an uptick in playing time with Jesse Winker landing on the injured list Tuesday due to a cervical strain. The 36-year-old got a turn at leadoff last Friday versus the Giants and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Ruf signed a one-year contract with the Brewers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Milwaukee opened up a spot for Ruf on the 26-man active roster by placing Luke Voit (neck) on the 10-day injured list. While Voit is on the shelf, Ruf should assume his duties as a short-side platoon option at first base or designated hitter. Ruf has a career .886 OPS versus left-handed pitching, although he hasn't been as effective against southpaws the last two seasons.

Ruf cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf declined his assignment to Triple-A Sacramento and is now free to sign with another club. The 36-year-old hit .261 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI with the Giants before being designated for assignment after coming off the injured list May 9. A team looking for a bench bat that can handle left-handed pitching could show interest in Ruf's services.
