Ruf went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-5 loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf has hit safely in three straight games and stolen a base in each of his last two. The 35-year-old isn't known for his speed -- his steal Sunday was just his sixth at the major-league level across parts of eight seasons. So far in 2022, he's slashing .181/.292/.205 with three RBI seven runs scored, two steals and two doubles through 96 plate appearances. With the Giants missing a number of outfielders and first baseman Brandon Belt (COVID-19), Ruf's spot in the starting lineup should be secure for a little longer.

Ruf went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Saturdays' 9-3 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger has had a rough start to the season, but he's beginning to show some signs of life at the plate. Both of Ruf's multi-hit performances on the year have come in the last eight games, although he's gone a combined 2-for-23 in the other six contests. Until he starts supplying some power, however -- he has zero homers and only two doubles among his 14 total knocks -- Ruf will be tough to roster even as a DFS dart throw.

Ruf is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Mets, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll find himself for the first time all season after generating a weak .176/.317/.235 slash line through the Giants' initial 10 games. Despite the poor start to the campaign, Ruf still looks to be locked into a near-everyday role for the Giants versus both right- and left-handed pitching while Tommy La Stella (Achilles) and LaMonte Wade (knee) remain on the injured list.

Ruf will start in left field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Padres, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting at either designated hitter or first base in the Giants' first five games, Ruf will get some exposure to the outfield as a replacement for the lefty-hitting Joc Pederson, who takes a seat with southpaw Sean Manaea on the mound for San Diego. Ruf has produced only one extra-base hit (a double) through five games, but he's getting on base at a .391 clip.

Ruf and the Giants agreed to a two-year, $6.25 million extension Tuesday which includes a club option for a third season, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf is 35 years old, but the deal actually merely buys out the final two years of his team control while adding an option for one more season. He didn't debut until age 25 and spent parts of five years with the Phillies before heading overseas to spend three seasons starring for the Samsung Lions in Korea. He's crushed the ball since returning stateside with the Giants in 2020, hitting .272/.381/.519 in 412 trips to the plate, though he's primarily filled the short side of a platoon, which caps his fantasy value.

Ruf went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in on Thursday in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis

EDGE Analysis
Ruf will get a breather after he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the leadoff hitter in Game 2. Kris Bryant will shift to first base while Steven Duggar enters the lineup in center field.

Ruf is out of the lineup in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Dodgers on Friday, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf started three of the last four games to close the season after spending some time on the injured list, and he'll open the postseason on the bench. Wilmer Flores will start at first base while Kris Bryant and LaMonte Wade work in the corner outfield.

Ruf is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruf came off the injured list Thursday and started in each of the Giants' last three games, going 4-for-12 with a home run, a double and two RBI. Though he'll take a seat in the regular-season finale, Ruf could be in store for steady work at first base during the postseason with Brandon Belt sidelined with a fractured thumb.

Ruf went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday in a 3-0 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran got San Francisco off to a quick start, going deep to left field with one out in the first inning. The long ball extended his season marks to 16 homers and 43 RBI, both of which are career highs. Since returning from the injured list Sept. 30, Ruf has gone 3-for-8 with a pair of extra-base hits and two RBI.
