Haren (shoulder) plans to report to spring training with the Marlins, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports. Haren was reported to be considering retirement, due to a strong preference to be near his family on the west coast. He probably still wants to be traded, and it may be the case that he's hoping the Marlins work something out before the end of spring training. Haren underwent arthroscopic surgery on his non-throwing shoulder in October, and while that shouldn't be a major issue, teams may want to see him healthy. It's also possible that Haren has simply warmed to the idea of pitching for the Marlins, with the team's roster looking improved from last season. Whatever the case may be, the Dodgers are on the hook for all of Haren's salary, so it makes no sense for the Marlins to simply let him retire. A decent starting pitcher with no salary attached is a very valuable asset, and the Marlins could surely get something interesting in a trade.

Burnett in Philadelphia last season that an unhappy veteran pitcher is often times an ineffective pitcher. The Marlins will surely explore the trade market, calling teams like the Padres and Angels about potential Haren deals, as this situation remains quite murky.

The procedure was done to deal with slight swelling in his shoulder, though it apparently wasn't serious enough to hold him out from any action during the season. He'll begin the rehab process in a week, and expects to be back to full health for spring training.

Haren is tentatively scheduled to start Game 4 against the Cardinals, the team's official site reports. Tentatively meaning Haren could be used in Game 3 should Hyun-Jin Ryu struggle in his return from a shoulder injury. In addition, should the Dodgers lose Game 3, manager Don Mattingly could be tempted to bring back Clayton Kershaw on short rest.

Haren will pitch Saturday but will be on a pitch count and inning limit, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. There was speculation that Haren would be held out of Saturday's start altogether with the division already clinched, but the team decided to go a different route. With Hyun-Jin Ryu's status still unclear for the postseason, Haren may be in line to start Game 3 of the NLDS if he can't go.

Haren, who is currently in line to start Saturday's game against the Rockies, might not get the start given that the club has clinched the NL West title, the Dodgers' official site reports. Haren could be needed for Game 3 of the NLDS given the uncertain status of Hyun-Jin Ryu's shoulder. Either way, it appears unlikely Haren will go deep into the game even if he does get one more regular season start.

Haren crossed the 180 innings mark in Monday's loss to the Giants, thus triggering his $10 million player option for 2015. Haren has had some ups and downs this year, but he now has a 1.89 ERA in his last six starts to lower his overall ERA to 4.03. At 34, he could have one more multi-year deal coming his way given the strong finish, and with Josh Beckett off the books this winter, look for the Dodgers to make every effort to bring him back.

Haren allowed two runs (one earned) on only one hit with no walks and seven strikeouts in an extra-inning loss Monday to the Giants. Haren's stellar outing was ruined by poor defense, as the Dodgers committed three errors and could have easily been credited with two more. Aside from a hiccup in Colorado, the riht-hander has been outstanding over his last six starts and sports a 1.89 ERA over that span. Haren will cap of the regular season versus the Rockies this weekend.
