Rasmus (groin) will not resume his rehab assignment for at least a few more days, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus collided with another outfielder Thursday in his first game of a rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte. He's yet to resume the assignment and will apparently need a few more days, but he could still be activated during next week's homestand. Rasmus is expected to serve as Tampa Bay's primary left fielder.

Rasmus (groin) will not play another rehab game with Single-A Advanced Charlotte after he was involved in an outfield collision in Thursday's contest, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the last result the Rays could have wanted from a rehab assignment, so Rasmus will play it safe from here. The 30-year-old has been slowly progressing throughout spring and appears to be close to returning to the lineup, though his lack of playing time could cause management to be cautious with inserting him into everyday lineups.

Rasmus (groin) will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Charlotte on Thursday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus is no longer limited by the groin issue, but due to the lack of at-bats he received in spring training, the Rays determined he wasn't quite ready to break camp with the big club and placed him on the disabled list. He's expected to play the outfield with Charlotte for a few games and could join the Rays as soon as he's eligible. Once back with the team, Rasmus is expected to take on the larger portion of a platoon in left field with Peter Bourjos.

Rasmus (groin) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Though he'll open the season on the DL, Rasmus is expected to rejoin the Rays in the near future, as he's no longer recovering from the groin issue and only needs to pick up extra at-bats before the team feels comfortable activating him. Rasmus plans to report to High-A Charlotte for a rehab assignment beginning Thursday, and should move up to the Rays soon thereafter. Once he's activated, Rasmus figures to take over as the team's primary option in left field.

Rasmus (hip) will open the season on the disabled list but is expected to play for High-A Charlotte beginning with their season opener next Thursday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger will thus get back into game action fairly soon, with an eye on a return to the big leagues as soon as he proves he's back to full health. Rasmus only logged 10 plate appearances this spring and hit .222 with one home run and three RBI.

Rasmus (groin) says he expects to open the season on the disabled list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus, who has been held out of fielding drills throughout camp, believes he's still not ready to play in the outfield, a prerequisite for regular playing time. Although he's appeared in four games as a DH this spring, it's unlikely the Rays would continue with this strategy when the season begins. Look for Mallex Smith to take over left field duties if Rasmus does indeed end up on the DL.

Rasmus (groin), who is back in the lineup for Sunday's exhibition matchup, is set to serve as the designated hitter both Sunday and Monday, Rays broadcaster Steve Carney reports.
EDGE Analysis
After logging some at-bats on two consecutive days, Rasmus is then slated to get a few days of rest. The team is still optimistic that Rasmus will be ready for Opening Day, but with several quality DH options already on the roster, he'll likely need to start playing the field soon if he wants his playing time to be consistent.

Rasmus (hip/groin) may start playing designated hitter sometime during the week of March 20, according to Rays manager Kevin Cash, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It would help his value for fantasy players who have to dive deep for outfield help. However, his well-known issues with plate discipline and Tampa Bay's crowded outfield and designated hitter picture likely will limit how much Rasmus will contribute.

Rasmus (hip, groin) indicated that he's performing well in batting practices, but is "not close" to playing in Grapefruit League games, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus has been eased along slowly in spring training following offseason surgeries to address his core muscles and a left hip injury, and it's unclear if he'll be able to make it back on the field before Opening Day arrives. Even if Rasmus is forced to open the season on the DL, it doesn't sound as though he'd be sidelined for long. The 30-year-old will likely see at-bats against right-handed pitching as either a corner outfielder or DH once he's healthy again.

Rasmus (groin) was able to take batting practice Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus has yet to make his Grapefruit League debut, but the Rays never planned to have him see game action until the second half of spring training after he required surgeries in October to address hip and core muscle injuries. If Rasmus is able to regain health by the time the season arrives, he'll likely be deployed in some sort of platoon in the corner outfield.
