Rasmus was unavailable Tuesday and said he will probably be unavailable Wednesday as well, as he doesn't feel right since returning from having a cyst removed from his ear in August, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager A.J. Hinch said it's a little bit of everything, adding that Rasmus' body has failed him. Hinch said he expects to get Rasmus back before the end of the season, whether that be off the bench or starting in left field against right-handed pitching. However, the general uncertainty suggests he is out indefinitely with general soreness. Rasmus hasn't done himself any favors in advance of becoming a free agent this winter, as he has hit just .206/.286/.355 with 15 home runs and a 29 percent K-rate in 417 plate appearances.

Rasmus is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus has just a .141/.227/.244 slash line against lefties this season, so it comes as little surprise that he'll get a day off Wednesday with southpaw Derek Holland set to face the Houston lineup. Teoscar Hernandez will draw the start in left field in his place and bat eighth.

Rasmus is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers, according to Angel Verdejo of the Houston Chronicle.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus is hitting just .151 against left-handers this season, so it should come as little surprised that he is being held out Saturday with southpaw Derek Holland on the bump for the opponent. Teoscar Hernandez will get the nod in left field Saturday afternoon.

Rasmus was activated from the DL and is starting Tuesday against the Athletics, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Rasmus was activated from the DL on Tuesday. He'll start in left field and hit sixth in his first game since August 4 when the Astros take on Kendall Graveman and the A's. However, Rasmus is hitting just .211/.286/.352, all of which are the worst marks of his career.

Ramus (ear) will be activated from the disabled list Tuesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
EDGE Analysis
It seemed late last week that Rasmus was just getting back into the swing of things after undergoing surgery on his ear, but it appears he is much further along that anticipated, and is ready to get back on the field Tuesday night.

Rasmus (ear) could return to action as soon as Tuesday, The Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus had surgery August 10 to remove a cyst from his ear. He says his head feels better and his eating habits are returning to normal, which is why he could return about two weeks ahead of what Astros officials originally expected. He has taken batting practice on the field three times in the past four days, and barring a setback, expect his return early this week.

Rasmus (ear) has started throwing and hitting in the cage, ROOT Sports' Julia Morales reports.
EDGE Analysis
He remains on track to return to the Astros at some point in September after having a cyst removed from his ear in early August. However, it is unclear what kind of role will be waiting for him when he returns. Presumably he will get starts in left field and center field, but his pre-surgery struggles have opened the door for Teoscar Hernandez, Jake Marisnick and Tony Kemp, among others, to compete for those at-bats.

Rasmus (ear) had ear surgery Wednesday to remove a cyst, and will be out until early September, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros hope to have Rasmus back by early September, but he could be out longer depending on how he is feeling. Rasmus was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday after being diagnosed with a cholesteatoma and battling ear infections for an extended portion of the season. With the 30-year-old out for the next month, the Astros will turn to Tony Kemp and Teoscar Hernandez to man some of the outfield duties.

Updating a previous report, Rasmus landed on the 15-day DL on Sunday due to a cyst in his right ear, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The outfielder said that he was diagnosed last week with a cholesteatoma and mentioned that he's battled ear infections for an extended portion of the season, so the Astros will give him some time off to recover. While the ear issue probably can't directly be blamed for Rasmus' struggles at the plate, his horrid 3-for-66 mark since July 2 provided plenty of reason for the Astros to stash him on the DL in the short term. With Rasmus out of the picture, Jake Marisnick and Preston Tucker will likely serve as the team's primary left fielders.

Rasmus was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday with an undisclosed injury.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus has been in the midst of a horrid 2-for-53 slump since the All-Star break, and after resting in both of the last two games, the Astros have decided to give him some more extended time off by placing him on the DL. Even if Rasmus is nursing a legitimate injury, it's unlikely to be something that sidelines him beyond the 15-day minimum, as the Astros likely just want him to regain some confidence by taking part in a minor-league rehab assignment. Tony Kemp was recalled from Triple-A Fresno to provide some depth in the outfield while Rasmus hits the DL.
