Rasmus is not in the lineup Friday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus sits as the Orioles take on the left-handed C.C. Sabathia. He will now have sat against both lefties the Orioles have faced so far this season, with Anthony Santander starting in right field for him both times. Rasmus has struck out 11 times in 20 plate appearances so far this season, so there's some chance that Santander, a switch-hitter, could eventually grab a larger share of the playing time in right, with prospect Austin Hays also lurking in the minors.

Rasmus is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Astros, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus will occupy a seat on the bench with left-hander Dallas Keuchel toeing the rubber for Houston. During five appearances thus far in 2018, Rasmus has gone just 1-for-13 with eight strikeouts at the dish. Anthony Santander will pick up a start in right field in his absence.

Rasmus has one hit and five strikeouts through 11 plate appearances this season.
EDGE Analysis
After sitting on Opening Day, Rasmus has started the last three games, but has been overmatched thus far, striking out at a 45.5 percent clip. He is likely on a pretty short leash, as the Orioles have not committed much money toward the journeyman and have a few similarly mediocre outfield options available in Anthony Santander, Craig Gentry and the recently signed Michael Saunders (who is on a minor-league deal and will open at Triple-A).

Rasmus is out of the lineup for Thursday's Opening Day contest against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus was expected to serve as the right fielder for Thursday's game, but manager Buck Showalter decided to go with Craig Gentry due to Jake Odorizzi's reverse splits on the mound. Showalter did confirm that Rasmus will play Saturday.

Rasmus is projected to start in right field and bat eighth in the Opening Day lineup, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus should get extensive playing time until Mark Trumbo returns from a quad strain. When Trumbo returns, Rasmus will have to battle Anthony Santander for playing time in the outifeld.

Rasmus agreed to a minor-league deal with the Orioles on Wednesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus will look to get back into the swing of things after stepping away from the game last July. The 31-year-old was battling a hip ailment at the time and was placed on the restricted list by Tampa Bay after informing the club that he wouldn't be returning that season. In all, he appeared in just 37 games in 2017, slashing .281/.318/.579 with nine home runs and 23 RBI. There shouldn't be any concern over his health heading into this spring, but he will have to battle in order to make Baltimore's Opening Day roster.

Rasmus (hip) was placed on the restricted list and will not return to the Rays this season.
EDGE Analysis
Rasmus, who had been recovering from a hip injury since mid-June, informed the club that he will not return to baseball this season. Although neither Rasmus nor the team released a statement directly addressing why he was placed on the restricted list, the outfielder will be away from the game for the foreseeable future. Prior to his injury, Rasmus had been hitting .281/.318/.579 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 37 games.

Rasmus' left hip discomfort remains "very much an issue" according to manager Kevin Cash and the outfielder won't return until some time after the All-Star break, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The slugging outfielder has been out since June 18, and it appears he's likely to miss at least a full month of action at a minimum before returning. Rasmus began feeling soreness in the hip a few days before officially hitting the disabled list, and Cash doesn't sound optimistic about the level of improvement he's seen since being sidelined. Peter Bourjos and Shane Peterson have both seen time in left field in the veteran's absence.

Rasmus (hip) won't be activated from the disabled list when first eligible Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tendinitis is Rasmus' hip has kept the outfielder sidelined since June 19, and it appears he's still being bothered by the issue enough to keep him on the shelf a little while longer. The Rays have yet to schedule any rehab games for Rasmus at this point; a clearer timetable for his return should be available once they do so.

Rasmus (hip) was placed on the disabled list Friday prior to Tampa Bay's game against the Orioles, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move is retroactive to June 19 as Rasmus hasn't seen seen the field since Sunday. He is dealing with left hip tendinitis, but should be able to return when he is eligible near the end of next week barring any setback. In his place Peter Bourjos will likely see more time on the field while Shane Peterson takes the roster spot and should be in line to get a couple starts in his absence.
