Cody Ross was the lone useless member of Arizona's lineup on Saturday, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Diamondbacks. Everyone else except Gerardo Parra had at least one hit, and Parra managed an RBI and a run scored. Ross shouldn't be starting against right-handers, and he certainly shouldn't be hitting ahead of Martin Prado and Mark Trumbo if he has to start against right-handers. He's 0-for-9 since coming off the DL.

Cody Ross went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in his return from the disabled list on Friday. The Diamondbacks followed through on their threat and started Ross against a very tough righty in Zack Greinke. The results were pretty much what should have been expected. Ross figures to be a liability against righties for however long it takes the Diamondbacks to realize he's a fourth outfielder.

Diamondbacks activated Cody Ross from the 15-day disabled list. The veteran outfielder is expected to serve as the Diamondbacks everyday left fielder now that he's healthy. He's hitting fifth in manager Kirk Gibson's lineup on Friday.

Cody Ross (hip) is aiming to be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Ross had a mini-setback during his rehab assignment when he felt a little twinge in his side, but he's played the last few days with no issues. As long as he doesn't encounter any more bumps in the road, he'll be back this weekend. Manager Kirk Gibson indicated last week that Ross would be the main left fielder when he returns.

Cody Ross (hip) returned to his rehab assignment Thursday after missing the previous two games with "something in his side that was bothering him," according to Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers. "Nothing major, just something in his side that was bothering him a little bit, so we gave him an extra day," Towers said. Ross had been slated to rejoin the D'Backs as soon as this weekend, but it's not clear whether this little setback will affect that timetable. Manager Kirk Gibson indicated earlier this week that Ross would be the main left field when he returns.

Cody Ross (hip) will begin his rehab assignment at Triple-A Reno on Wednesday. He's slated to be in Reno until being re-evaluated on April 10. Ross is working his way back from hip surgery in August, and the team is hoping to have him back sometime in mid-to-late April.

Cody Ross (hip) will go on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Reno to start the season. Ross has been placed on the disabled list as he continues to work back from August hip surgery. He'll be at Reno until at least April 10, when he'll be re-evaluated. The Diamondbacks are still hoping he'll be ready for a mid-April return to the team.

Cody Ross (hip) played four innings in the outfield Thursday in a minor league game. Ross also took four at-bats. It's a nice step in the right direction for the 33-year-old outfielder, who is recovering from August hip surgery and aiming to join the Diamondbacks around mid-April. He has already been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Diamondbacks placed OF Cody Ross on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip fracture. Ross made his Cactus League debut earlier this week, as his recovery from hip surgery is going well. While he simply doesn't have enough time to get ready for Opening Day, he could join the D'Backs outfield at some point in April.

Cody Ross (hip) made his Cactus League debut Sunday, striking out as a pinch-hitter. Ross had already been facing live pitching the last few weeks in batting practice and in minor league games. "It's a little different than he's been facing," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "He had a tough at-bat." Ross is expected to play the field later this week. He'll begin the season on the disabled list, but it's looking like he might not miss much time.
