Ross is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Giants. Ross will turn right field over to Alfredo Marte following three straight starts. With David Peralta (back) due to return Friday, Ross' opportunities will likely be limited over the final weeks of the season.

Ross went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the Diamondbacks' 7-2 loss to the Dodgers on Sunday. It's Ross's best game since returning from injury Sept. 3. He's 5-for-10 in five games since being activated by the team. Ross will battle with David Peralta and A.J. Pollock for a spot in the Diamondbacks' outfield throughout the remainder of the season.

Ross (calf) was activated from the 15-day DL on Monday. A left calf strain pushed Ross to the DL back on July 22, but he showed enough during batting practice and running drills last weekend to warrant activation. The 31-year-old has hit just .238/.287/.306 with two homers in 66 games with Arizona this season, and his opportunities to start may be limited over the final month, with A.J. Pollock (hand) also likely to return to an outfield mix that now includes Nolan Reimold.

Ross (calf) is expected to rejoin the Diamondbacks on Monday or soon after, Jack Magruder of Fox Sports Arizona reports. He took live batting practice and ran Friday, suggesting that his return is not far away as he's been able to progressively build up his baseball activities during the rehab process.

Ross (calf) was scheduled to run the bases Saturday, but his leg wasn't ready, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. It appears Ross isn't progressing as quickly as the Diamondbacks had hoped. He may still require some time before returning to the roster, meaning the Diamondbacks will continue with Alfredo Marte, Ender Inciarte and David Peralta manning the outfield while Ross and A.J. Pollock continue on the road to recovery.

Diamondbacks placed OF Cody Ross on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain. Ross tried to play through the injury, but that didn't go so well. He'll likely be out now for three weeks. Alfredo Marte was called up in a corresponding move.

Cody Ross left Saturday's game versus the Cubs because of tightness in his left calf. Ross was 1-for-1 with a single to center field before departing in the fifth inning. Gerardo Parra replaced him in right field. Ross is considered day-to-day for now.

Cody Ross continued his struggles in the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets, going 0-for-3 with an RBI groundout. The veteran outfielder has had his share of difficulties at the plate since returning from the disabled list, slashing a paltry .191/.234/.247 in his first 28 games. He shouldn't be started in anything other than NL-only formats until he shows signs of life at the plate.

Cody Ross went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Dodgers. Ross took Dan Haren deep in the fourth inning for his first jack of the season. He has been dreadful at the plate after starting the season on the disabled list. Sunday's effort pushes him over the Mendoza line, however, as he is now slashing .203/.244/.270.
