Pennington has been shifted to the 60-day disabled list, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pennington was expected to return around the All-Star break, but considering he has yet to make a rehab appearance, he's likely still a couple weeks away. He now won't be eligible to make his return until early August.

Pennington (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a tough development for Pennington as the veteran infielder had played just three games since returning from a hamstring injury before heading back to the DL. The Angels purchased Brendan Ryan's contract in a corresponding move Wednesday to replace Pennington up the middle. However, the Angels will likely use a combination of Johnny Giavotella and Gregorio Petit as their double play combo the majority of the time in Pennington's absence.

Pennington left Tuesday's game with a pulled hamstring, the Los Angeles Times' Pedro Moura reports.
EDGE Analysis
He just came off the DL after nursing a hamstring strain for two weeks, and it looks like he could be headed for another run on the shelf. Even when healthy, Pennington is a fringe fantasy option, and the Angels will have to make do without him once again in the short term.

Pennington (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
A hamstring injury landed Pennington on the DL earlier in May, but he was able to return after the minimum 15 days with his activation Saturday. He won't immediately rejoin the lineup, however, as the Angels will give Gregorio Petit the nod at shortstop against Dallas Keuchel.

Pennington (hamstring) will be activated from the DL on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
He showed the Angels enough in just two rehab games with High-A Inland Empire to convince them he's ready to return to the major leagues. Brendan Ryan was designated for assignment in anticipation of Pennington's return. Pennington is hitting just .217/.294/.370 this season, and with Gregorio Petit faring well of late, the 31-year-old may be relegated to a utility role upon activation.

Pennington (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment Wednesday at High-A Inland Empire.
EDGE Analysis
The utility infielder has been on the shelf since May 13 due to a hamstring issue, but he has progressed quickly since landing on the DL and is nearing a return. He's expected to be activated off the DL on Saturday, so he'll play at least one game at High-A before being returning to the Angels. Gregorio Petit and Johnny Giavotella have both been on tears of late, so Pennington could potentially be relegated to a bench role once he rejoins the big league club.

Pennington (hamstring) is expected to be activated by Saturday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pennington was placed on the 15-day disabled list in mid-May with a hamstring injury. Saturday is the first day he is eligible to be activated, until then look for Brendan Ryan and Gregorio Petit to start at shortstop.

Pennington (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pennington had an early exit from Thursday's loss to the Cardinals due to some cramping in his left hamstring and the issue has proved to be severe enough to warrant a DL stint. Brendan Ryan will take his place at shortstop Friday and the Angels recalled utility infielder Gregorio Petit to take Pennington's spot on the active roster.

Pennington left Thursday's game with cramping in his left hamstring, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Pennington was forced from Thursday's game with the injury, the report indicates his not considered serious. If true, he will have a chance to return to action for the Angels' next game Friday against the Mariners.

Pennington will start at shortstop and bat ninth Tuesday against the Cardinals, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andrelton Simmons is slated for thumb surgery and could be facing an extended absence, so the door appears open for Pennington to play regularly at short for the Angels in the weeks and months ahead. However, Pennington is a .244 career hitter with little power or speed to speak of, and veteran Brendan Ryan, whom the team brought in from Washington, could steal occasional starts.
