C.J. Wilson (ankle, hip) threw a successful bullpen session on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson, who's been out since early July with a sprained ankle and hip tightness, is expected to rejoin the Angels' starting rotation on Saturday in Tampa Bay. The 33-year-old left-hander owns an underwhelming 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 107/48 K/BB ratio in 116 1/3 innings this season. He's capable of much better down the stretch.

C.J. Wilson (ankle) revealed Tuesday that he believes his recent struggles have been due to tightness in his left hip. Wilson has been out since early July with a sprained ankle, but it's the hip the lefty says was giving him issues well before that. "It had the affect of dragging the ball back over the middle of the plate, which is bad," Wilson deadpanned. "That's where they hit the ball." Wilson has been doing exercises to loosen the hip and says it's "better, way better." He's expected to rejoin the Angels' rotation this weekend.

C.J. Wilson (ankle) allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings Monday in a minor league rehab start with Double-A Arkansas. Wilson threw 81 pitches and gave up four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. The southpaw has been sidelined all month with a right ankle sprain, but he should be cleared to rejoin the Angels' rotation this weekend.

C.J. Wilson (ankle) is scheduled to throw an "up-and-down" bullpen session on Wednesday. Wilson felt good after throwing 50 pitches in a bullpen session Monday and will test himself Wednesday in what will essentially amount to a simulated game, as he'll take breaks as if he was pitching separate innings. The southpaw will almost certainly require a minor league rehab assignment, but should be able to return within a couple of weeks.

C.J. Wilson (ankle) threw a bullpen session Monday. It was his first since landing on the disabled list. Wilson's right ankle doesn't hurt while he's throwing, but he's expected to go out on a rehab assignment so that he can test things out. It's looking like he probably won't be ready to return before the end of the month.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Friday that C.J. Wilson's injured ankle is still sore, and while he's currently throwing, he hasn't yet been cleared for mound work. There is still no definitive timetable for when the veteran southpaw may be able to rejoin the Angels rotation. Fantasy owners should plan on going without Wilson until early August.

Angels placed LHP C.J. Wilson on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain. Wilson was knocked around for six runs (three earned) in 3 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays and has a 10.26 ERA over his last four starts, so an injury would explain the struggles. The Angels aren't expected to need their fifth starter again until July 22, so Wilson might only have to miss one start if he makes it back when he's first eligible.

C.J. Wilson lasted just 3 2/3 innings in Wednesday's start against the Blue Jays, giving up six runs -- three earned -- in a no-decision.That three of the runs were unearned is simply good fortune for Wilson, as the Jays had their fair share of baserunners without the Angels' help. Along with the eight hits, Wilson also walked three on the afternoon. It's been an up and down first half of the season for the 33-year-old, who will head into the second half 8-6 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP.
