Young gave up one run on three hits and a walk over two innings against the Angels in his spring debut Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
He did not fan a batter, but Young did nothing to lose ground in the competition for a spot in the Royals' rotation. There are two spots open between Young, Kris Medlen, and Danny Duffy, though manager Ned Yost recently suggested Medlen has the inside track at a starting role. Duffy gave up three runs on five hits, including a home run, in his first Cactus League appearance.

Young and the Royals have agreed to a two-year, $11.5 million contract, Andy McCullough of the KC Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran, who is reportedly taking a physical in Kansas City on Monday, went 11-6 with a 3.06 ERA last season, helping the Royals to a World Series victory. Young, 36, will likely remain in a similar role to the one he saw in 2015, serving as a back-end, low-risk starter. Even at his advanced age, Young likely would have been able to command a richer or longer-term deal had it not been for his lengthy injury history. He missed all of the 2013 season before returning and posting two straight seasons with an ERA well under 4.00.

Young will start Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old tossed three no-hit frames in extras Tuesday, earning the win over New York in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. He will still oppose Steven Matz on Saturday despite throwing 53 pitches, though Young will likely have a short leash, as he did in Game 4 of the ALDS.

Young will start Game 4 of the ALCS, VP of Communications and Broadcasting for the Royals Mike Swanson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young hasn't pitched much during the postseason, but when he has he's been extremely effective. In four relief innings against the Astros, the 36-year-old piled up seven strikeouts -- that figure as well as his astounding 3.06 ERA and 1.09 WHIP this season likely pushed him into the starting rotation over Kris Medlen. In his lone appearance against the Blue Jays this season, Young gave up three runs, including a home run to Edwin Encarnacion, in six innings of work.

Young tossed 6.1 innings on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five and not factoring into the decision in the win over Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Young made 16 of his 34 appearances in 2015 out of the pen, but showed the ability to be effective when starting games off, surrendering a single run on four hits in 11.1 innings in his final two outings, both starts. He's a safe bet to return to the bullpen for the Royals in the playoffs, but the the lanky, soft-tossing righty likely performed well enough in 2015 for a team to take a flyer on him for 2016.

Young earned his 11th win of the season Sunday, striking out a pair and walking just one while no-hitting the Indians through five innings.
EDGE Analysis
A truly special start could have been in the cards for the soft-tossing veteran, but he had been coming out of the bullpen of late and left the game after throwing just 68 pitches. Young will remain in the starting rotation to finish out the season, and he will pitch Friday against the Twins.

Young will receive the start for the Royals on Sunday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the official reasoning behind his insertion into the rotation Sunday hasn't been announced, it seems likely that he will just replace Jeremy Guthrie in the rotation following another bad outing (nine runs (eight earned), nine hits over 2.1 inning) from Guthrie on Tuesday against the Mariners. It' unclear how the rotation will unfold the next time through, but the Royals will only need one more start from the fifth spot before the postseason begins and they can shrink the rotation to four.

Young took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings, striking out four. He heads into the All-Star break with an impressive 3.00 ERA and 1.02 WHIP, and while it's hard to expect Young to maintain those numbers given his pedestrian arsenal, he should still be able to supply some wins and quality starts for the AL Central-leading Royals.

Young will start Saturday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Young last pitched in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday. He has performed well over his past three starts, allowing just seven combined runs. Young has posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 18 games with the Royals.

Young struck out five and walked one while holding the Rays to four runs on five hits over six innings in Game 1 of a doubleheader Tuesday. He did not factor in the decision, but Young limited the wear and tear on the Kansas City bullpen by managing to get through the first six innings Tuesday. Young has posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 18 appearances (12 starts) with the Royals this season, providing much needed stability in the back of the Kansas City rotation.
