Fien (shoulder) expects to return from the disabled list after the minimum 15 days, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Fien, who dealt with some shoulder issues earlier in the season, was diagnosed with a strain after Wednesday's outing. He has five holds and a 0.97 WHIP over 10.1 innings this season, but he's only struck out three batters. Once healthy, he should be assured of a setup role in the Minnesota bullpen.

Fien (shoulder) was officially placed on the 15-day DL with a right shoulder strain Thursday, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. This was anticipated after he left Wednesday's game with the injury, especially since the shoulder had given him issues earlier in the season. Michael Tonkin was brought up from Triple-A Rochester to take Fien's spot in the Twins' bullpen.

Fien (shoulder) appears headed for the disabled list, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Although nothing is official yet, the Twins are likely to bring up Michael Tonkin, so it seems Fien going to the disabled list would be the corresponding move.

Fien will get further testing on his injured shoulder, but the Twins are hopeful he will avoid a DL stint, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. He did not want to talk about the the shoulder following Wednesday's game, but manager Paul Molitor said Fien's shoulder was still a bit tender. He left in the ninth inning with the injury, and it's not the first time this year that his shoulder has bothered him. Continue to monitor his status and consider him day-to-day for now.

Fien threw a scoreless inning in Wednesday's spring training loss to Tampa Bay. He lowered his spring ERA to 1.13 with just a 2:1 K:BB ratio in eight innings. Fien's lack of strikeouts this spring are concerning, but he may just be working on pitches as one of the few veterans considered a lock for the bullpen. Fien will likely become the top setup option ahead of closer Glen Perkins.
