With three straight seasons of double-digit holds in Minnesota from 2013-15 before a rough year with both the Twins and Dodgers last year, Fien has both the track record and multiple impressive performances this spring to have the trust of manager Scott Servais. "He knows how to pitch and how to work his stuff," said Servais. "This guy has had success. He's got Major League time, there's no doubt he's going to help us and it could be in different roles. It could be later in a game, it could be in the middle. I like what I've seen so far."

Fien signed a contract with the Mariners on Saturday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
