Carlos Quentin (knee) went 2-for-4 and belted his first home run on his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Quentin started in left field in the game and improved to 3-for-14 (.214) on his rehab assignment. He's expected to rejoin the Padres at some point next week.

Carlos Quentin (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Lake Elsinore on Saturday. He will need three or four games before being ready to return to the Padres lineup. While he is a terrible bet to remain healthy and in the lineup for the Padres, fantasy owners should take advantage of his power while he is on the field.

Carlos Quentin (knee) could begin a rehab assignment over the weekend if he continues to progress. Quentin has been doing baseball activities -- running, taking batting practice, shagging fly balls -- in Arizona in recent days, and the next step is a rehab assignment. He'll travel to San Diego tomorrow to find out if he's ready. If so, he'll start at High-A Lake Elsinore. A return in early-to-mid May appears to be in the cards.

Carlos Quentin (knee) will run, take batting practice and shag fly balls at the Padres' spring training complex Monday. Quentin has recovered pretty slowly after injuring his left knee late in spring training, but it appears he's close to beginning a rehab assignment. The veteran outfielder seems to be on track for a return around the middle of May.

Carlos Quentin (knee) took batting practice on Monday. Quentin had hit in the indoor cages for the previous five days, but this was the first time he's hit on the field. "It's a good first step for him," said Padres manager Bud Black. "When this happens, then it's a good sign for Carlos and the club." Quentin still needs to do some running and increase the intensity of his workouts before he'll be cleared for a rehab assignment. It seems unlikely that he'll be ready before the end of April.

Carlos Quentin (knee) has been taking swings in the cages, and could be cleared for live batting practice as early as next week. The veteran slugger is making slow progress in his recovery from a left knee injury. At this point, it's unlikely to expect a return before the end of April.

Padres manager Bud Black announced Sunday that Carlos Quentin (knee) will last beyond the minimum 15 days. The earliest date that he's eligible to return would've been April 9, but it now appears that it will be at least mid-April before he returns to the Padres lineup. He's been no stranger to the disabled list in his career, and remains very difficult to trust in all fantasy formats.

Padres placed OF Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee injury. Knee problems continue to plague Quentin, who appeared in just 86 games in 2012 and 82 games in 2013. He's still a decent fantasy stash because of his power potential, but there is no timetable yet for his 2014 debut.

Padres manager Bud Black said Friday that Carlos Quentin (knee) could begin the season on the disabled list. Quentin is dealing with some soreness in his left knee, which is actually his "good" knee. The Padres open up the season Sunday night, so a decision on the outfielder's status will have to be made soon. Quentin has averaged just 84 games played in his two years with the Padres.

Carlos Quentin (knee) was a late scratch from Wednesday's Cactus League game. Quentin is dealing with a bit of soreness in his left knee, and the Padres saw no reason to push it this late in spring. It's not the same knee that Quentin had surgery on in September. Quentin will be re-evaluated on Friday, but at this point it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that will threaten his spot as an Opening Day starter.
