Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's loss against the Mariners. We'll take all the progress we can get: Quentin is 3-for-7 over the past 48 hours after going 1-for-32 in his last several games before that. The outfielder needs time off from time to time in order to protect his fragile body, and he hasn't been hitting much while manning the San Diego sod. Quentin is batting .212/.312/.379 with three round trips in 66 at-bats.

Carlos Quentin hit a two-run homer as a pinch-hitter Saturday against the Cubs. It was Quentin's first appearance since he tweaked a groin muscle six days ago. He's still likely a long shot to rejoin the starting lineup on Sunday, but at least he's progressing.

Carlos Quentin (groin) took batting practice on the field before Friday's game. He could be available to pinch-hit on Friday, but remains unlikely to return to the starting lineup until Monday. The oft-injured outfielder lasted just a week after returning from the disabled list before sustaining another injury.

Carlos Quentin (groin) will not start for a few more days, but the Padres remain hopeful that he'll avoid the disabled list. Manager Bud Black likened Quentin's groin injury to that of Seth Smith's, who missed four games and then had his play limited for an additional five contests last month. Quentin was just activated from the disabled list a week ago.

Carlos Quentin tweaked his groin running the bases in Sunday's loss to the Rockies and is considered day-to-day. The oft-injured outfielder is likely to miss a game or two while the injury heals, but it doesn't appear he will require a trip to the disabled list.

Padres activated OF Carlos Quentin from the 15-day disabled list. Quentin missed the first six weeks of the 2014 regular season with a knee injury. He didn't hit very well on his minor league rehab assignment but has excellent career numbers away from Petco Park and is worth rostering in most standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Carlos Quentin (knee) is likely to be activated Tuesday. Quentin is traveling to Cincinnati on Monday to meet up with the Padres after sitting out the first six weeks of the 2014 regular season because of a knee injury. He was just 3-for-18 (.167) on his minor league rehab assignment but is worth rostering in most mixed fantasy leagues. The oft-injured outfielder has an .855 OPS in his last 286 major league games.
