Bruce Chen was knocked around in loss on Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings. The left-hander struck out five and walked three. Chen wasn't sharp, but Kansas City's offense was shut out, so it's hard to blame him for this disappointing loss. The Royals are now four games back in the Wild Card race, which means an official elimination from playoff contention could happen as soon as Wednesday. Chen is scheduled to take the ball in the season finale on Sunday against the White Sox.

Bruce Chen allowed two runs over five innings in a win over the Indians on Wednesday. It was a perfectly Bruce Chen start, as he allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out just one batter. Whatever it is, it's effective -- he moved to 8-3 with a 3.13 ERA this year. Unfortunately his game isn't much suited for fantasy purposes. He'll start at the Mariners next week.

Bruce Chen was knocked around in Friday's loss to the Tigers, surrendering six runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work. Chen walked a pair and struck out three on the night. Prince Fielder and Torii Hunter each drove in three runs off the veteran southpaw, with Fielder's knocking a two-run homer over the wall in right in the fourth inning. After a strong start to the season, the regression monster has hit Chen hard as of late, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over his last six starts. He'll look to get back on track when he takes on the Indians at home on Wednesday.

Bruce Chen fired seven innings of two-run ball to beat Detroit on Sunday. He struck out four, walked none and yielded five hits. The southpaw is 2-0 over his last three starts and gave up just five runs in those 18 2/3 innings. Chen will find it difficult to sustain that momentum on Saturday in Detroit.

Bruce Chen allowed two runs over six innings but took a no-decision against the Mariners on Tuesday. Chen deserved a better fate, as he exited with the lead only to see the Mariners tie the game in the next inning. The only blemish against him was a Kyle Seager two-run homer, as he gave up just six hits on the evening. The lefty remains 6-2 with a 2.81 ERA through 93 innings this season. His challenge gets tougher Sunday when he takes on the division-leading Tigers.

Bruce Chen limited the Twins to just one run over 5 2/3 innings in Thursday's 3-1 victory. Chen yielded five hits and a walk while recording three strikeouts. With his pitch count up to 93 and him having served up a homer than inning, Royals manager Ned Yost decided to pull the lefty before he finished the sixth. It means he doesn't get a quality start, but it was a nice rebound effort after Chen was knocked around the last two times out. He'll try to keep it going next week at home against the Mariners.

Bruce Chen struggled in Friday's loss to the Nationals, allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks over 3 2/3 innings. Chen allowed one run in the third inning and was chased in a seven-run fourth. After allowing just four runs (0.93 ERA) over his first six starts in the rotation, the veteran left-hander has allowed 13 runs in his last two starts. It was fun while it lasted.

Bruce Chen was rocked for six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday. He walked one and struck out one. Believe it or not, the setback was Chen's first loss of the season, dropping him to 5-1. Coming in, the southpaw hadn't allowed a run over his last two starts spanning 14 2/3 innings and had rattled off six straight quality starts. Chen's peripherals suggest that his 2.20 ERA will continue to rapidly rise. He'll try to fight off another attack from the colossus named Regression on Saturday against the Nationals in Kansas City.

Bruce Chen held the Marlins scoreless over seven innings but failed to factor in the decision on Tuesday. Bruce Chen? Bruce Chen. The southpaw hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts spanning 14 2/3 innings and has rattled off six straight quality starts. He went pitch-for-pitch with Marlins phenom Jose Fernandez, finishing with three hits and three walks allowed. Chen now has a ridiculous 1.62 ERA through 72 1/3 innings. He'll face the tough Tigers in Detroit on Sunday.

Bruce Chen shut out the Red Sox for 7 2/3 innings Thursday and improved to 5-0 on the season. Of course he did. Chen has allowed just four runs in 31 2/3 innings since replacing Luis Mendoza in the rotation last month, and he's been a big part of the Royals' surge the last few weeks. He'll resume giving up homers at some point, though.
