Giants released 1B Brett Pill. Pill was sold last month to the KIA Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization and has now been officially cut from the Giants' 40-man roster. The 29-year-old first baseman could resurface in the majors at some point.

The Giants have sold the rights of Brett Pill to the KIA Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization. Pill's deal with the club will be for one year and will be official after he passes a physical. Until then, Pill will remain on the Giants' 40-man roster.

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports that Brett Pill is poised to sign with Korea's Kia Tigers. John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle was first to report that teams in Japan and Korea were interested in Pill. Baggarly says the Giants already have a deal in place to sell the first baseman's contract and are just negotiating the final terms. Pill has batted .233/.279/.404 with nine homers over parts of the last three seasons for the Giants.

Brett Pill went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored Thursday against the Pirates. Pill made his first start of the season in left field with left-hander Jeff Locke on the hill for the Pirates. The 28-year-old has mashed in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League in recent years, but it has failed to translate on the major league level thus far. The Giants are out of the race, so they can afford to give Pill plenty of at-bats down the stretch, but he's unlikely to be fantasy relevant.

Brett Pill went 3-for-4 on Tuesday in his first game since being recalled by the Giants. Pill batted just .148/.172/.333 in 27 at-bats his first stay with the team, but his three hits Tuesday suggest his second stint could be a longer and more fruitful one. The first baseman was batting .344/.379/.630 with 18 home runs for Triple-A Fresno before the call-up, so there's ability there. With Brandon Belt failing to grab hold of the first base job, Pill could find more at-bats if his minor league success continues to carry over.

Giants recalled 1B/OF Brett Pill from Triple-A Fresno. Pill has crushed the ball at Fresno this season, batting .344/.379/.630 with 18 homers and 79 RBI. He's just a .225/.267/.407 career batter over 77 major league games, though. Expect him to operate mainly as a bat off the bench.

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports that the Giants will recall Brett Pill and Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A Fresno prior to Tuesday's game. Baggarly isn't sure what the corresponding moves will be, but he notes that "it's possible that a trade could be part of it." The Giants "continue to field calls about Hunter Pence," and Baggarly has also speculated that Brandon Belt could be dealt.

Brett Pill was removed from Saturday's game with Triple-A Fresno due to a hamstring strain. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined, but Pill is a candidate to be placed on the 7-day disabled list. The 28-year-old is batting .340/.373/.616 with 12 home runs and 62 RBI with the Giants' Triple-A affiliate.

Giants recalled 1B Brett Pill from Triple-A Fresno. Pill was just sent down to the minors over the weekend, but he's eligible to return since Ryan Vogelsong and Santiago Casilla are headed to the disabled list. The 28-year-old went 2-for-6 in his first stint with the big club and will function as a backup first baseman and right-handed bat off the bench.
