Oberholtzer (finger) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. The purpose of the session will be to test the blister on his throwing hand, which sent him to the DL last week. The left-hander is not eligible to return from the DL until later in the month, however.

The Astros placed Oberholtzer (finger) back on the 15-day disabled list following his early exit from Wednesday's start, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Oberholtzer started for the Astros on Wednesday for the first time this season, but his outing was cut short after he reopened the blister that delayed the start of his campaign, and he is now facing another recovery period. It took Oberholtzer roughly six weeks to recover from the blister the last time around.

Oberholtzer (finger) left Wednesday's game after three innings due to a blister on his pitching finger. Oberholtzer had his 2015 debut cut short to a blister on his pitching hand. He began the year on the disabled list due to a blister on his finger as well, which is a reason for concern for Oberholtzer owners. He allowed one run on five hits over three innings of work Wednesday. An update on his status should be made available following Wednesday's game.

Oberholtzer (finger) was activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports. He will start Wednesday's game against the Giants, so this move was inevitable. Oberholtzer tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in his last rehab start with Triple-A Fresno, but only threw 72 pitches, so he may be on a pitch count in the 80-90 pitch range Wednesday.

Oberholtzer (finger) will be activated to start Wednesday against the Giants, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Manager A.J. Hinch had suggested a return next week was possible for Oberholtzer, but the left-hander now has a set date for his 2015 debut. Oberholtzer tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in his final rehab start with Triple-A Fresno, but he only built up to 72 pitches and it's uncertain if he'll be able to take on a full workload right off the bat. Sam Deduno will move to the bullpen.

Oberholtzer (finger) could return to Houston's rotation next week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Manager A.J Hinch told the press Thursday, "We have the off-day Monday to play with. We're not under large duress to make a decision yet. Given Oberholtzer went deep into the game and his pitch total got to the mid-70s, he's certainly an option we're going to talk about." Oberholtzer could be an option next week when the Astros host the Giants given his strong outing in his most recent rehab start.

Oberholtzer (finger) struck out nine over 5.1 scoreless innings during a rehab start for Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday. Oberholtzer, who gave up seven runs over 2.2 innings in his first rehab start for Triple-A Fresno on April 30, tossed 55 of his 72 pitches for strikes in a far more efficient outing. The 25-year-old southpaw struggled during Grapefruit League play before suffering a blister this spring, thus forcing him to open 2015 on the DL. There's a possibility the Astros will call him up to take Samuel Deduno's spot in the rotation, which would put him in line to start May 12 against San Francisco.

Oberholtzer (finger) threw live batting practice at extended spring training Monday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Now that he's been cleared to face hitters, the lefty is preparing to pitch in a simulated game by the end of the week. If all goes well during that session, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment at one of the Astros' minor-league affiliates in the near future.

Oberholtzer (finger) played catch Monday without a bandage for the first time since landing on the DL, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports. It appears as though Oberholtzer is progressing well as he resumed throwing from flat ground last week, and has now been able to throw without a bandage on his blister. He'll be eligible to be activated Tuesday, though it remains to be seen if he's ready to return after the minimum 15-day stay on the DL.

Oberholtzer (finger) threw from flat ground Wednesday with a bandage on his blister, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports. He pitched poorly this spring and wasn't great last season, so even if he regains a rotation spot upon coming off the DL, Oberholtzer is not a lock to stay in the big league rotation all season.
