McCarthy (6-4) allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five batters through just four innings during Thursday's loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy has now allowed four runs or more in three of his past four starts and hasn't collected a victory since June 20. The Dodgers have rotation depth, so the veteran will need to tidy things up to guarantee his turn every fifth game. Still, with a 3.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 and 3.33 FIP for the season, McCarthy remains a serviceable fantasy asset moving forward. He projects to face Minnesota at Dodger Stadium in his next start.

McCarthy (6-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings, but received no-decision Friday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy did well the first time through the Marlins lineup, but he then gave up a run in the fourth inning before giving up three more in the fifth to hasten his departure. This was just the second time over his past seven starts in which he's allowed more than two earned runs, and he remains a strong lineup option based on his 3.38 ERA. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the White Sox.

McCarthy was charged with two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday. He struck out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy got an early hook, but he maximized his 75 pitches, recording 18 outs. The right-hander was a little erratic in the fifth inning, as he had a wild pitch followed by a passed ball followed by a walk, but regardless it goes down as a successful return from a bout of knee tendinitis. He figures to have any pitch restrictions lifted after the break.

McCarthy (knee) was activated from the 10-day DL on Saturday prior to his start against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy will make his first start since June 25, when he lasted just three innings during a rough outing against Colorado. He was abled to throw a four-inning simulated game Monday and although he's pitched very well this season, he hasn't been able to last past the sixth inning since late April, so expectations should be tampered for his return. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers optioned Scott Van Slyke to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

McCarthy (knee) is expected to return from the disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Royals, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy was able to get through a four-inning simulated game Monday with no issues, clearing the way for him to return to the Dodgers' rotation over the weekend. The 33-year-old will look to pick up where he left off before the injury, as he compiled a solid 3.25 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 13 starts (72 innings) earlier in the year.

McCarthy (knee) will throw a four-inning simulated game Monday to see if his command has improved, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 26 with an apparent knee injury. If he's able to complete his simulated game with positive results, he could return to the rotation prior to the All-Star break.

McCarthy was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a knee injury before Monday's game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy lasted just three innings in a brutal no-decision last time out Sunday, in which the Rockies knocked him around for five runs on four hits. He owned a sharp 2.87 ERA heading into that start, so it's possible he tweaked the knee either before or during the start. At this point it's unclear how serious the knee injury is, but McCarthy will be eligible to return from the disabled list June 6.

McCarthy allowed five runs on four hits in just three innings of a no-decision Sunday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers eventually prevailed 12-6 despite the fact the Rockies got out to an early 5-0 lead, which prevented McCarthy from taking his fourth loss of the season. He had allowed just six runs in his previous 34.1 innings, however, so there's no reason to fade the 33-year-old heading into his next start Saturday against the Padres.

McCarthy (6-3) tossed six shutout innings in Tuesday's 12-0 blowout of the Mets, striking out four while allowing just four hits and a walk.
EDGE Analysis
He continues to post sparkling numbers, as McCarthy's last six starts have seen him allow just six total runs in 34.1 innings -- that's a 1.57 ERA. The veteran righty's strikeout numbers remain fairly modest, but with a 2.87 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, he's putting up the best ratios of his career. McCarthy's lined up to make his next start Sunday at home against the Rockies.

McCarthy held the Indians to a single run on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Wednesday, but he didn't record a strikeout or factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
He actually had a strikeout-free shutout going until running into trouble in the sixth, giving up two hits before getting yanked and seeing the bullpen allow an inherited runner to score. Missing bats hasn't typically been a problem for McCarthy this year, but he also won't be confused with a whiff machine. Still, the peripherals seem to indicate that the success he's had this year (3.14 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) is more or less sustainable. That'll ensure he has a home on fantasy rosters far and wide.
