Brach posted a 1.93 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 7:1 K:BB in 4.2 innings this spring before the Grapefruit League schedule was suspended.
EDGE Analysis
A solo homer was the only real blemish on his performance. Brach struggled in 2019 with the Cubs but rebounded late in the season after signing with the Mets in August, ringing up a 15:3 K:BB through 14.2 innings, and he carried that momentum into spring training. The 33-year-old appears ticketed for the final middle-relief spot in the bullpen once the regular season begins.

Brach signed a one-year, $850,000 deal with the Mets on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The contract includes a player option for $1.25 million in 2021. Brach is still owed $500,000 from the Cubs for 2020, so he will be earning $1.35 million this season. The 33-year-old righty is coming off his worst year as a pro by ERA (5.47), but his 3.73 FIP suggests he was a bit unlucky. He should operate in a mid-leverage role.

Brach signed a contract with the Mets on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach quickly found a new job after being released by the Cubs earlier in the week. While the veteran reliever posted an unsightly 6.13 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across 39.2 innings with Chicago, he struck out more than a batter per inning (10.2 K/9) and registered a more respectable 4.11 FIP. Donnie Hart was optioned to the minors while Brandon Nimmo (neck) was transferred to the 60-day IL to clear room on the roster for Brach.

Brach was released by the Cubs on Monday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brach will head to free agency after being designated for assignment over the weekend and subsequently passing through waivers untouched. The veteran righty has struggled to a 6.13 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 45:28 K:BB in 39.2 innings this season.

Brach was designated for assignment Saturday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was the corresponding move to activating Cole Hamels (oblique) from the injured list. Brach had given up seven runs in six innings since the start of July.

Brach was charged with three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two in 1.1 innings of relief Monday in the Cubs' 18-5 loss to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Brach had been dynamite in relief over the past two weeks, striking out 11 while posting a 0.82 WHIP in six appearances before Monday's implosion. If there's a silver lining for Brach, it's that he was far from the only Cubs pitcher who took it on the chin on a night the Pirates racked up a season-high 23 hits. The former Orioles closer remains locked into a middle-relief role for the Cubs and will struggle to maintain relevance even in leagues that count holds as a category.

Brach has allowed 10 runs in 2.2 innings of work over his last four appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Brach has been awful since the calendar flipped to June and was poor in late May as well. Since May 20, he owns a 16.43 ERA and a 2.87 WHIP in 7.2 innings. The 33-year-old doesn't have any saves this season and is about to be even further from a ninth-inning role once Craig Kimbrel is ready to make his season debut.

Brach allowed a run on two hits and a walk to blow the save in Monday's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Brach was called on for the top of the ninth inning with the Cubs up 4-3, and after allowing a one-out double, he had a chance to wiggle out of trouble. However, Jean Segura hit a soft line drive to right field with two outs, which brought home the tying run. Despite the hiccup, Brach still has a solid 2.75 ERA, and with Pedro Strop (hamstring) and Brandon Morrow (elbow) both currently out, he could get some more save chances here and there, though Steve Cishek seems to be atop the bullpen pecking order at the moment.

Brach (3-1) was the losing pitcher Wednesday against the Reds, allowing a run on two hits and two walks across 1.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Brach breezed through the ninth inning but got into some trouble when the Cubs brought him out for the 10th in a 5-5 game. He retired the first batter of the frame but followed that by allowing a walk, a single and an intentional walk. Yasiel Puig then ended things with a walkoff single. Despite the hiccup, Brach still has a solid 2.55 ERA, and he should continue to see high-leverage work for Chicago.

Brach (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Monday's game against the Pirates. He allowed a hit and a walk, while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Chicago starter Jon Lester left the game with a hamstring injury after facing one batter in the third inning, and Brach subsequently got through that frame as well as the next. It helped the righty's cause that the Cubs exploded for 10 runs, but he still offered valuable relief work on a day when the bullpen had to record 21 outs. Brach now has a solid 1.50 ERA through his first six innings of work this season, and with Brandon Morrow (elbow) on the shelf and Carl Edwards currently in the minors, he could pitch some important innings for Chicago moving forward.
