Brach (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits in one-third of an inning, taking the loss Thursday versus Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander began the eighth inning by allowing an Omar Narvaez single followed by a go-ahead two-run home run from Avisail Garcia. That was enough for Brach to take his first loss of the season in 22 appearances. The 35-year-old has been relatively solid with a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB across 20.2 innings while logging one save and seven holds. Despite Thursday's setback, he should continue to see high-leverage work.

The Reds placed Brach's teammate Tejay Antone back on the IL on Saturday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Brach, who notched a save on Thursday, could be in line for more opportunities.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds are unlikely to use just one reliever to notch saves, so Amir Garrett and Heath Hembree are also candidates to close while both Antone and Lucas Sims are out. As Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reported in the wake of his save on Thursday, Brach is aware Reds manager David Bell doesn't assign specific roles in the bullpen. "At this point, there are really no roles (in the bullpen)," said Brach. "I was ready for any situation there and just really glad to go out there and be able to shut them down."

Brach fired a scoreless ninth inning, allowing a hit while striking out two to secure the save over the Nationals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach's only blemish was a single by Freddie Freeman. He doesn't normally pitch in save situations, but closer Lucas Sims (elbow) just hit the injured list. It's still notable that Brach received the ninth inning over Tejay Antone and Amir Garrett who've combined for seven saves this season. However, Brach has been stellar, without allowing a run since June 6. The 35-year-old has a 2.51 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.

Brach picked up his third hold of the season in Wednesday's win over the Brewers, throwing a scoreless inning in relief of Tyler Mahle.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds are counting on Brach in higher-leveraged situations with Tejay Antone on the IL, as he helped set the table Wednesday while protecting a one-run lead in the seventh inning. Brach hasn't allowed a run in his last five outings, though walks remain a problem for him -- he's issued six free passed in 10.2 innings.

Brach's contract was selected by the Reds on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 35-year-old righty has several strong seasons on his resume, but he doesn't seem to be the same guy at this stage of his career. He owns a 5.54 ERA since the start of 2019, thanks in large part to his 15.0 percent walk rate, and has yet to throw a major-league inning this season. Carson Fulmer was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Brach signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach chose to become a free agent at the end of April after being DFA'd by the Royals. He appeared in 34 games with the Mets in 2020, finishing the season with a 5.84 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with a 14:14 K:BB across 12.1 innings.

Brach cleared waivers and elected free agency Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach was designated for assignment Saturday, and he'll choose to become a free agent rather than accepting an outright assignment. The right-hander hasn't appeared in a game in 2021 but posted a 5.84 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 12.1 innings across 14 relief appearances with the Mets in 2020.

Brach was designated for assignment by the Royals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach's contract was selected by Kansas City on Friday after Greg Holland was placed on the injured list for an unspecified reason. However, Brach didn't appear in Friday's contest and will now be removed from the 40-man roster once again after Holland was activated in a corresponding move.

Brach's contract was selected by the Royals on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Brach failed to break camp with the major-league club this year, but he'll now join the Royals' bullpen after Greg Holland was placed on the injured list for an unspecified reason. Brach made 14 relief appearances for the Mets last year and posted a 5.84 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 12.1 innings.

Brach did not make the Royals' Opening Day roster, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brach struggled to a 5.84 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 14 relief appearances with the Mets last year. He joined the Royals on a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, but he wasn't able to win a spot in the bullpen. The 34-year-old righty will head to the alternate training site to begin 2021, with a Triple-A assignment possible once that season commences.
