The A's declined to tender Brown a contract. Brown was claimed off waivers from the Mets in late October, but his tenure with the A's ended up lasting just over a month. An 18th-round pick in 2007, Brown has hit just .220/.281/.390 in parts of four seasons at the major league level (362 PA).

Brown was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Sunday, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports. Brown played mostly in Triple-A after struggling with the Mets at the beginning of the season. He hit .283/.372/.519 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI at Triple-A Las Vegas, but has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster due to the addition of Ike Davis from Pittsburgh.

Andrew Brown delivered a game-winning, two-run double in the bottom of the 13th as the Mets beat the Diamondbacks 5-4 on Monday. Arizona went ahead on Cody Ross's solo homer in the top of the 13th, but the Mets out-cuted them in the bottom of the inning. After Josh Satin doubled off Josh Collmenter with one out, Kirk Gibson opted to intentionally walk John Buck as the winning run because the pitcher was on deck and the Mets were out of position players. Terry Collins had Matt Harvey pinch-hit and lay down a sac bunt. Gibson ordered another intentional walk, this one to Omar Quintanilla, to load the bases, bringing up Brown. After going down 0-2, Brown got ahold of a high fastball that wasn't as high as intended and deposited it into the gap to end it.
