Webster turned in a quality start, allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out two over six innings of a 4-2 victory over Kansas City on Friday night. Webster (4-3, 6.02 ERA) has had his rough stretches, usually when he loses his release point, but he threw 55 of 83 pitches for strikes in this one and it resulted in a win. Webster has just an average fastball, but his off-speed pitches show some promise when he spots them. He'll take on a dangerous Orioles squad at Camden Yards in his next start.

Webster allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, walking two and striking out five over 5.1 innings, coming away with a no-decision in Boston's 9-8 victory in extra-innings against Toronto on Friday night. It was a mix of good and bad for Webster who struggled in the first inning, allowing a pair of runs, but then was crisp until the sixth when he began to leave pitches up in the zone and allowed a two-run laser shot to Jose Bautista. His bread and butter is a very good change-up, and when he locates that pitch he can be successful. Right now, he is endeavoring to spot that pitch more consistently. He'll take on the Royals in Kansas City in his next outing.

Webster allowed six runs on five hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out three in Saturday's loss to the Rays. In his last two outings, Webster has allowed 12 runs on 13 hits and five walks in 8.1 innings. Another big inning did in Webster, who had three consecutive quality starts prior to his last two erratic ones. He's had a recurring problem of losing control, but in those quality starts Webster was able to find his command and limit those lapses of control to brief snippets. That didn't happen Saturday or the previous start. Webster's exhibiting a trend early in his pro career; he's unable to consistently get major league hitters out.

Webster gave up three earned runs on seven hits while walking two and fanning three over six innings of a no-decision against the Angels on Tuesday. The sophomore retains his 3-1 record and now owns a 4.73 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP and horrendous 18:13 BB:K ratio in five starts (26.2 innings) this season with the BoSox.

Webster was able to survive a rocky start Thursday night, an indication the pitcher is making the in-game adjustments on which Red Sox coaches have been working with him, WEEI.com reports. "I think we're seeing some small gains here," manager John Farrell said. "When you compare to two starts ago where things might have gotten away from him a bit, I think more than anything, he'll wake up tomorrow knowing there's another win next to his name, and hopefully that's added confidence along the way." Webster walked two batters early and threw 15 of his first 24 pitches out of zone, but just 14 in his final four innings. Two starts ago, Webster got on bad roll, walking six and getting pulled after 2.2 innings.
