Alexi Ogando is likely to be used as a reliever down the stretch. The Rangers said last month that they still viewed Ogando as a starter, but that's evidently changed, at least when it pertains to this season. The club has used Travis Blackley in the fifth spot lately but could turn to Nick Tepesch on Sunday.

Rangers activated RHP Alexi Ogando from the 15-day disabled list. Ogando isn't expected to rejoin the rotation until sometime next week, but the Rangers went ahead and activated him from the DL. The right-hander has been out since August 20 with shoulder inflammation, which was the second occasion he's missed time with shoulder issues.

Alexi Ogando (shoulder) is likely to return next week. Ogando is set to throw a bullpen session on Monday and live batting practice later this week. He won't be able to make a minor league rehab start because the Rangers' affiliates are just about done for the year. Ogando has been out since August 20 with shoulder inflammation.

Alexi Ogando (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. If all goes well, he could progress to a minor league rehab start on Monday. He's been sidelined since August 20 due to inflammation in his shoulder, and should be able to rejoin the Rangers rotation in early September.

Alexi Ogando (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session this weekend. It will be the first time he's thrown from the bump since he landed on the DL a week ago. Despite a shoulder issue that's sidelined him twice this season, the Rangers still plan to use Ogando in a starting role when he returns. If all goes well, he should be back not long into September.

Rangers placed RHP Alexi Ogando on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Ogando was scratched from his scheduled Monday start against the Astros and wasn't feeling much better on Tuesday. He underwent a CT scan earlier this week that was supposed to be reviewed by Dr. James Andrews. The Rangers should have an exact diagnosis on him soon.

Alexi Ogando was diagnosed with inflammation in a nerve in his right shoulder. The Rangers have sent the CT scans to Dr. James Andrews for further evaluation. Ogando hasn't officially been ruled out for his next start, but it appears likely he'll miss at least one turn. The good news is that his shoulder has responded to medication.

Alexi Ogando had a CT scan on his right shoulder Wednesday after complaining of soreness following Tuesday's start. One of Ogando's two stints on the disabled list earlier this season was because of a shoulder issue. The results of the exam won't be known until Thursday, but you'd have to think he'll probably miss at least one start. Ross Wolf or Josh Lindblom would probably be the favorites to fill in if needed.
