Foote (knee) appears poised to coach rather than play in 2015, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports. Foote relayed Monday that the "itch" to suit up has yet to arrive. Instead, his offseason stint as the Cardinals' assistant inside linebackers coach will likely extend into the regular season. On the other hand, head coach Bruce Arians has previously stated that Foote must make a decision to play by training camp, meaning he has more than a month and a half to make a final decision. Even if Foote changes course, though, he'll be hard-pressed to supplant Sean Weatherspoon, who has taken on defensive play-calling duties during offseason workouts.

Foote underwent offseason knee surgery, and while he's currently fulfilling a coaching gig for the Cardinals, he may decide to play in 2015, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. Coach Bruce Arians would like Foote to make a decision prior to training camp. If Foote returns, he could hold down a starting spot at inside linebacker after playing all but one snap in the first 15 games of last year, with a DNP logged in the season finale. He responded with 83 tackles (61 solo), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery. The call could be easier to make if Daryl Washington's suspension for a domestic violence-related charge is lengthy.

Foote was released by the Cardinals on Thursday to prepare for a coaching gig, Darren Urban of azcardinals.com reports.Foote has apparently decided to retire, opting for a coaching job with the Cardinals over a 14th season as a player. He finishes his career with 804 tackles, 25 sacks and four interceptions in 187 games, having won Super Bowls with the Steelers during the 2005 and 2008 seasons.

Foote (knee) finished the 2014 season with 84 tackles (61 solo), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery in 15 games. After Saturday's wild-card defeat in Carolina, he told Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site that he's unsure whether he'll play in 2015. Signed to a one-year deal as insurance last May, Foote was pushed into a significant role due to Daryl Washington's season-long suspension and John Abraham's season-ending concussion. Foote proceeded to play all but one snap in the first 15 games, before sitting out the regular season finale to rest up for the postseason. While his production wasn't overly impressive, Arizona's unsettled situation at linebacker could force the team to keep him around for another campaign.

Foote (knee) is active for Saturday's game against Carolina, AZCentral.com's Kent Somers reports. Foote's return is well-timed for Arizona, as his presence gives the Cardinals a chance to patch up a run defense that struggled to close out the regular season.

Foote (knee) is expected to return for Saturday's wild-card outing at Carolina, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports. Foote has been heavily utilized this season, logging all but one defensive snap prior to a DNP in Week 17. His real-life value has outweighed his relevance in IDP formats, but the 34-year-old still accrued 84 tackles (61 solo), four passes defended, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery in 15 games.

Foote (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game in San Francisco, the Cardinals' official site reports. Prior to the season finale, Foote logged all but one of Arizona's defensive snaps, which may have been the impetus for Sunday's absence with the postseason imminent. He'll yield his starting spot at one of the inside linebacker spots to undrafted rookie Glenn Carson.

Foote (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's game against San Francisco. With Foote likely out, the Cardinals will need to turn to someone else at the lead inside linebacker spot. Kevin Minter might be the top option.

Foote (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Like last Thursday, Foote may have received a vet's day off. Through 15 games, he's now missed just two defensive snaps on the season, but the elevated usage hasn't translated to the box score, which displays 84 tackles (61 solo), two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Foote (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Seahawks, the Cardinals' official site reports. With only one defensive snap missed in 2014, Foote is easily the surest IDP option among Cardinals linebackers, including 44 tackles (30 solo), one sack, and one fumble recovery in the last seven contests.
