Kansas City is optimistic Toney will contribute in 2024, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports.
EDGE Analysis
GM Brett Veach recently referred to Toney as "probably our most talented wideout," and coach Andy Reid said the 25-year-old is "arguably one of the most talented guys on the team." The implication, supported by Veach's comments, is that Toney's lack of playing time last season was a product of his medical issues, starting with a meniscus injury during training camp. Of course, injuries have been a constant for the 2021 first-round pick, who has missed at least four games in each of his three pro seasons and also seen his snaps limited a number of other times, and Toney has never recorded more than six targets or 30 offensive snaps in his 23 total game with Kansas City between the regular season and postseason. An ongoing legal situation involving Rashee Rice could open the door for Toney to get more playing time at some point in 2024, with his YAC ability potentially making him a good fit to see a lot of the quick passes Rice hauled in as a rookie in 2023. Fantasy relevance seems like somewhat of a long shot nonetheless, especially after Toney was a healthy(ish) scratch for the team's Super Bowl win over San Francisco in February.

Toney (coach's decision) is inactive for Super Bowl LVIII against the 49ers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Toney's second season with the Chiefs hasn't gone swimmingly, to say the least. In his second-to-last appearance back in Week 14 against the Bills, he lined up offsides on what would have been a go-ahead touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce. Since his last game action Week 15, Toney has been tending to a strained hip and an ankle injury before sitting out the AFC Championship Game due to personal reasons. Despite operating as a full participant during both weeks of Super Bowl prep, he won't be available to Kansas City's offense, ending the campaign with 27 catches (on 38 targets) for 169 yards and one touchdown and 11 carries for 31 yards in 13 regular-season games.

Toney is expected to be a healthy inactive Sunday for the Chiefs' matchup with the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
EDGE Analysis
Toney hasn't played since Week 15, but after turning in a slate of full practices over the two weeks of Super Bowl prep, he appears to have moved past the strained hip and ankle injury that kept him out for the past five games. However, Toney's lengthy absence and underwhelming play when healthy during the regular season appear to be factors in the Chiefs' apparent decision to hold him out for the Super Bowl. Toney likely didn't help his cause by claiming he was "not hurt" in an Instagram Live video posted shortly before the Chiefs' win over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 28, though he later clarified that his rant was directed toward the Giants, his former team. After scoring a touchdown in last season's Super Bowl win over the Eagles and setting up another score in the fourth quarter with a 65-yard punt return, Toney was expected to take on a featured role in the passing attack in 2023, but he was limited to just 27 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown while dropping five of his 38 targets over his 13 regular-season appearances.

Toney (personal) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice report estimate.
EDGE Analysis
The Chiefs didn't actually practice but estimate that Toney would've been a full participant if they had. He hasn't played at all in the playoffs, with his absence from the first two games attributed to hip and ankle injuries and his absence from the AFC Championship Game attributed to both his hip and a personal issue (reportedly the birth of his first child). Alex Andrejev of The Athletic reports that Toney denied being injured and expressed some frustration Sunday on his Instagram account. It's thus uncertain if he'll have a role in the Super Bowl, though it does at least seem that player and team now agree the wide receiver is healthy, as he's only listed under 'personal' on the latest injury report.

Toney (hip/personal) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
Toney managed to practice in limited fashion both Thursday and Friday, but that won't stop him from missing his sixth consecutive game due to an ongoing hip issue. Expect Justin Watson and Mecole Hardman to see more snaps once again in the absence of Toney.

Toney (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
After logging a full listing Wednesday, Toney was deemed limited in practice both Thursday and Friday and questionable ahead of Sunday's contest. Toney last saw game action back in Week 15, and if he's available versus Baltimore, he'll look to reclaim a role in a Kansas City WR corps that also includes Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman. In the 13 regular-season games he saw action in prior to sustaining his hip issue, Toney recorded 27 catches (on 38 targets) for 169 yards and a touchdown to go along with 11 carries for 31 yards.

Toney (hip) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
In his attempt to put an end to a five-game absence, Toney opened this week with a full session Wednesday, only to follow it up with a capped practice one day later. The development may have been related to maintenance of his lingering hip issue, but he now could be in danger of entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Baltimore. Ultimately, Friday's injury report will reveal as much.

Toney (hip) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Toney has missed the last five games, including playoffs, due to a combined of a strained hip and an ankle injury. This week, the Chiefs are listing only the hip issue, and his ability to handle every rep to kick it off bodes well for him returning to action for Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Baltimore. Toney will have to contend with Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman for reps at wide receiver.

Toney (hip/ankle) was ruled out Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Bills, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toney managed to practice in limited fashion all week, but that evidently wasn't enough to gain clearance for the pivotal playoff matchup. Expect the likes of Justin Watson, Mecole Hardman and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to continue seeing additional snaps in the absence of Toney.

Toney (hip/ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Buffalo, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toney missed the final three games of the regular season and the first round of the playoffs, but he seems to have a decent shot at returning after practicing on a limited basis throughout the week. If so, he'll likely have a part-time role in a Kansas City offense that tends to rotate wide receivers behind No. 1 option Rashee Rice.
