Mason took six carries for 36 yards and caught his only target for 12 yards in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
MVP hopeful Christian McCaffrey (calf) was rested Week 18, so primary backup Elijah Mitchell started Sunday's tilt. Mason wound up logging 27 snaps on offense (44 percent) to Mitchell's 32 (52 percent). While both tailbacks nearly split McCaffrey's playing time Sunday, Mitchell (14-52-1) wound up having more plays executed for him and also nabbed the only touchdown the backfield duo would produce in the loss. Mason wraps up the 2023 campaign with numbers (40-206-3) similar to his rookie year (43-258-1) while also serving as one of the 49ers' top coverage men on special teams.

Mason could get significant playing time at running back Sunday against the Rams, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mason has mostly played special teams this season,, sitting behind Christian McCaffrey (calf) and Elijah Mitchell on the depth chart for offense when the latter two backs have both been healthy. Week 18 may be another story, however, as the Niners have locked up the top playoff seed in the NFC and won't have McCaffrey available for their final regular-season game. The calf injury McCaffrey suffered Week 17 might also make the team more cautious with his top backup, Mitchell, who has a lengthy injury history of his own. It thus won't come as any surprise if Mason and/or practice-squad member Tyrion Davis-Price ends up leading the ground attack this Sunday against the Rams.

Mason had two carries for three yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 27-10 win over Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Mason was relegated to third on San Francisco's RB depth chart following the return of Elijah Mitchell (knee) on Sunday. The latter wound up posting a strong rushing line (17-80-1) against the Commanders in relief of Christian McCaffrey (calf). CMC's injury is currently considered minor, but the MVP candidate could still sit out Week 18 with the 49ers already locking up the No. 1 seed in the NFC. In that scenario Mason would slide into the No. 2 role with Mitchell likely serving as the team's lead back to close out the regular season against the Rams.

Mason (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old was considered questionable due to an illness but has been cleared to suit up for Week 17. Mason should see most of his action on special teams Sunday with Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell entering the game healthy.

Mason (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
EDGE Analysis
With Elijah Mitchell cleared to return from a knee injury this week, Mason only figures to play special teams unless Sunday's game is a complete blowout. The Niners' third-string back missed practice Thursday and Friday.

Mason (illness) did not practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mason wasn't on San Francisco's injury report for the first day of Week 17 prep, so he appears to have come down with an illness late Wednesday or early Thursday. The second-year running back was limited to special-teams work last Monday against Baltimore after logging nine carries for 40 yards and a touchdown over his previous two games. Elijah Mitchell (knee) is expected to return from a three-game absence Sunday versus the Commanders, so Mason could again see limited -- if any -- work on offense in that contest.

Mason did not see the field on offense Monday, finishing with 12 snaps on special teams in the 33-19 loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
The 49ers were playing catch-up for most of this one-sided affair, which resulted in star tailback Christian McCaffrey playing 100 percent of the offensive snaps in Monday's loss. This left Mason -- who had been operating as the No. 2 in recent weeks -- with zero touches after averaging 3.7 carries and 16.7 rushing yards over San Francisco's last three games. Assuming the NFC's top seed does not get blown out by the 4-11 Commanders on Sunday, Mason should resume his role on offense spelling CMC with a handful of touches on New Year's Eve.

Mason had five rushing attempts for 20 yards and wasn't targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 45-29 win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Mason wound up logging 13 snaps on offense (23 percent) backing up Christian McCaffrey as normal backup Elijah Mitchell (knee) remained sideleined. Mason finished with 20 rushing yards for the second week in a row, but he was unable to punch in a touchdown like he did against Seattle. The 25-year-old should conitnue to see a handful of touches agianst the Ravens next Monday.

Mason had four carries for 20 yards and a touchdown and a reception of six yards in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
The special teams ace elevated to No. 2 on San Francisco's running back depth chart after Elijah Mitchell (knee) was unable to suit up against the Seahawks. Mason quickly took advantage of the opportunity when he scored a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage Sunday. His three-yard score came on the heels of an electric 72-yard run from starter Christian McCaffrey, who likely needed a play off to catch his breath after sprinting nearly the length of the field. Mason wound up playing just six snaps on offense (11 percent) and finishing with five combined touches. Even if he is backing up CMC again next Sunday, fantasy managers should not expect more than a handful of touches from the backup against Arizona.

Mason is in line to serve as the No. 2 running back for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Seahawks with Elijah Mitchell (knee) ruled inactive for the contest.
EDGE Analysis
Mason has logged just two carries since Week 6, but he'll be in line to handle any complementary work available behind Christian McCaffrey versus Seattle. Mason has been efficient with his limited opportunities in his second season, averaging 5.5 yards per carry on his 23 totes while also recording a pair of rushing touchdowns and adding a 13-yard reception.
