Allen Iverson will officially announce his retirement from the NBA, according to SLAM. We're talking about retirement? Iverson hasn't played in the league since 2010, when he accepted a (short-lived) deal with Besiktas in Turkey, and he declined an offer to play in the D-League last January. His late-career antics have clouded what a truly unique athlete he was in his prime. The 6'0" scoring guard won the MVP award while leading Philly to the Finals in 2000-01, and he finishes his NBA career as an 11-time All-Star with averages of 26.7 points, 6.2 assists and 2.2 steals in a whopping 41.1 minutes per game.

Allen Iverson said recently that he still hopes to return to the NBA, but if not he would sign another contract in China. It's very unlikely that an NBA team would gamble on Iverson at this point in his career, given his age, attitude, and how poorly he played with the Nuggets, Sixers and Grizzlies from 2008-2010. As for playing in China, Iverson said "the team that wants me to join has got to show me that they really mean it, like 'hey we really need you'." It still doesn't sound like he's ready to accept a bit role off any team's bench.

The Knicks will not pursue free agent Allen Iverson, sources tell the New York Post. It's not exactly breaking news. Iverson wants back in the NBA, but he hasn't played since looking inept with the Sixers in 2010. We'd be stunned if any team takes a chance on the future Hall of Famer at this point.

Allen Iverson, who delivered the game ball in an emotional pregame moment prior to Game 6, says he still wants to play professional basketball, but realizes it may not happen in the NBA. Iverson would have to drastically change his mindset and accept being a role player, and even if that happened, a return to the NBA is not likely.

The Venezuelan team Guaros de Lara has reportedly reached an agreement with Allen Iverson. Iverson turned down an offer to play in Puerto Rico and had considered a stint in the D-League, with the ultimate goal of returning to the NBA. In addition to pure love of the game, A.I. has mounting legal bills and debts, including the $860,000 he owes to a jeweler.

Allen Iverson is reportedly open to going to the D-League "if there's a possibility that it leads to the NBA." We've heard Iverson connected to Puerto Rico, Venezuela and now the D-League. Until he actually puts pen to paper somewhere, Iverson rumors will continue to pop up. He's been determined to make a comeback since before the lockout ended.
