Venable is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Padres broadcaster Bob Scanlan reports. He continues to platoon in center field with Melvin Upton Jr., seeing the lion's share of the starts as the left-handed bat. The 32-year-old Venable has logged just 18 at-bats against southpaws so far this season and his exposure to them figures to remain limited.

Venable is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. Interim manager Pat Murphy has rid his lineup of lefty bats with southpaw Robbie Ray on the bump for Arizona. Melvin Upton Jr. will take over in center field and atop the order.

Venable is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports. The Padres will go with a lineup consisting of all right-handed or switch bats to counter Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw. Melvin Upton Jr. will man center field with Wil Myers moving in to play first base, as Venable sits for the first time this month.

Venable went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Wednesday's win over the Angels. Venable cooled off a bit after recording seven base hits over his previous three contests. The outfielder is still hitting a healthy .333 on the month with six RBI, nine walks, 11 strikeouts and a home run.

Venable went 1-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, and two RBI in Monday's loss to the Angels. Venable's two-run single tied the score at 3-3 in the seventh inning, taking starting pitcher Tyson Ross off the hook for the loss until the Padres ultimately surrendered the winning run in the ninth. Venable has produced five hits and two walks while slotting into the second spot in the order the last two games, which will likely allow him to stick around in that capacity for at least the next handful of contests.

Venable went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored against the Dodgers in Sunday. The outfielder has been seeing added playing time lately with Wil Myers sidelined, but has yet to really seize the opportunity. Venable will likely see extra at-bats in the short term, but will return to a predominantly reserve role once the Padres get completely healthy.

Venable will start in center field and bat fifth Saturday against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports. Venable has seen most of the time in center field since Wil Myers (wrist) hit the shelf, but Saturday marks just his second time in the five-hole. He's primarily hit in the bottom third of the order, but with a .325/.413/.475 batting line so far in May, it's possible Venable could continue to occupy a more prominent lineup spot.

Venable got a rare start Friday night and responded going 3-for-5 including a triple and a homer in the 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Venable scored two runs and grabbed two RBI's in the breakout performance and may have garnered more playing time with this strong effort. He took over at center-field as Myers manned first base and this may become a regular occurrence with the injury to Yonder Alonso.

Venable will start in center field Tuesday against the Giants. Venable will replace a slumping Wil Myers in the lineup Tuesday against right hander Ryan Vogelsong. Manager Bud Black is batting Cory Spangenberg in Myers' usual leadoff spot and slotting Venable into the sixth spot in the lineup.
