Tommy Hanson could start Friday against the Astros. Hanson hasn't pitched since May 4, but he threw 75 pitches in a five-inning simulated game on Saturday. There was some talk over him returning Thursday against the Dodgers, but Jason Vargas will make the start on extra rest. Hanson could be pushed back to Saturday if the Angels opt to boot Joe Blanton from the rotation. Either way, he'll be back this weekend. Hanson has been away from the team for nearly a month following the death of his step-brother.

Tommy Hanson could start Thursday night's game against the Dodgers. Hanson is scheduled to throw 75 pitches Saturday in an extended spring training game and will likely only need one start before returning to the Angels' rotation. He hasn't pitched since May 4 due to a three week stint on the bereavement list.

Tommy Hanson is scheduled to throw 75 pitches Saturday in an extended spring training game. Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to a death in the family. Since he's had such a long layoff, the assumption is that he'll make at least one more extended spring training start before rejoining the Angels. That means he won't be back until June 4 at the earliest. Hanson is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio through his first 28 innings with the Angels.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange Country Register reports that Tommy Hanson "could be weeks away" from rejoining the Angels' rotation. Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother, and he's now in extended spring training trying to regain his stamina. It sounds like Halos fans will have to deal with Joe Blanton for a while longer.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that Tommy Hanson would "most likely not" start on Saturday in Kansas City. Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother. The Halos were hoping he'd be ready to rejoin the rotation on Saturday, but he needs to get some work in at extended spring training first. The right-hander seems like to return sometime next week.

Tommy Hanson could rejoin the Angels' rotation on May 25. Hanson's been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother. The Angels will use their off day next Monday to skip the No. 5 starter before hopefully getting Hanson back that weekend.

Angels placed RHP Tommy Hanson on the restricted list. Hanson will miss his scheduled start Friday following the death of his step-brother. It's not clear when he'll return. Barry Enright will start in his place against the White Sox while Michael Roth will replace him on the active roster.

Tommy Hanson will miss his scheduled start Friday following the death of his step-brother. No word yet on who will replace him. Garrett Richards threw an inning tonight, which would seem to rule him out as an option. Jerome Williams is still slated to start Saturday. Barry Enright could be a possibility.

Tommy Hanson yielded three earned runs over five innings Saturday in the Angels' loss to the Orioles. Hanson escaped with a no-decision because the O's didn't finalize the victory until the 10th inning. He allowed seven hits -- including two home runs -- while walking two and striking out three. The 26-year-old right-hander owns an underwhelming 4.18 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 17/9 K/BB ratio through his first 28 innings with the Angels. He will try for better next week against the White Sox.
