Hudson (ankle) will throw off a mound Wednesday, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports. Hudson had bone spurs removed from his right ankle in January, and after briefly considering retirement, the veteran right-hander expects to be ready for Opening Day. Assuming his health continues to move in the right direction, Hudson figures to open the season as San Francisco's third or fourth starter.

Hudson (ankle) worked out on a back field on Sunday and is reportedly recovering well after having ankle surgery in January, CSN Bay Area reports. Hudson had to have bone spurs removed from his right ankle in January and was contemplating retirement. However, manager Bruce Bochy stated that Hudson is recovering well and "should be on a mound here soon." Being a veteran, he wouldn't need much spring training work to get ready for the season, and indications are that he will be ready for Opening Day after all.

Manager Bruce Bochy indicated Hudson (ankle) is behind on his throwing program due to the offseason surgery on his right ankle, Chris Haft of MLB.com reports.Hudson is considering retirement following the 2015 season, but his potential closing campaign could begin later than expected. It appears he's no guarantee to be ready for opening day because of the issue, as Bochy said Ryan Vogelsong or Yusmeiro Petit could stand in if needed.

Hudson (ankle) is leaning toward retiring after the 2015 season, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports. His two-year deal with San Francisco is up after this year, and after winning the World Series in 2014, Hudson is probably satisfied with the idea of hanging up the spikes as a 40-year-old at the end of this season. He had surgery in early January to remove bone spurs from his right ankle and will not be fully recovered until early March.

Hudson had surgery Tuesday to remove bone spurs from his right ankle and will need approximately eight weeks to recover, Alex Pavlovic of the Mecury News reports. This initial timetable should allow for Hudson to be fully healthy for the start of the regular season, but it will be something to monitor as spring training approaches. Hudson had a very typical 2014 season by his standards. His 3.57 ERA was supported by a 3.54 FIP and a 1.23 WHIP -- numbers he could replicate in 2015. However, he pitched to contact, as he is wont to do, notching just 120 strikeouts in 189.1 innings. The veteran righty turns 40 in July, and while he lacks upside, Hudson is still a relatively safe option in the later rounds of drafts.

Hudson will start Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday. Hudson was in line to start on Wednesday after starting Game 3 last Friday, but there was some speculation that manager Bruce Bochy might opt to go with Madison Bumgarner on just two days rest. Given that it's the final game of the season, Bochy will likely have a quick hook on Hudson, and could be removed at the first sign of trouble.

Hudson will start Game 3 of the World Series against the Royals on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Turning the page on a dismal month of September (8.72 ERA), Hudson gave up just five earned runs over 13.2 innings (3.29 ERA) in his first two starts of the postseason. He'll be followed by Ryan Vogelsong in Game 4, with manager Bruce Bochy opting to keep Yusmeiro Petit as the long man out of the bullpen.

Hudson will start Game 3 of the NLCS against the Cardinals on Tuesday, Bay Area News Group reports. Hudson had a terrible close to the regular season, but he pitched well against the Nationals in the NLDS, allowing one earned run on seven hits over 7.1 innings. He'll take the mound for Game 3, while Ryan Vogelsong gets the ball for Game 4.

Hudson is expected to start Game 2 of the NLDS against the Nationals on Saturday, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports. The 39-year-old completely fell apart during the final month of the regular season, posting a 8.72 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over his final five starts, all losses for San Francisco. Hudson's overall numbers still look respectable (3.57 ERA, 1.23 WHIP), and the Giants still trust the veteran enough to start him opposite Jordan Zimmermann in Game 2. Madison Bumgarner is expected to follow in Game 3 on normal rest.

Hudson (9-13) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings against the Dodgers. Hudson was rolling until Clayton Kershaw hit a two-out RBI triple in the fifth inning. Yasiel Puig reached out and poked one over the right field wall to lead off the sixth and Hudson was yanked two batters later when Matt kemp doubled. After an exceptional start to his 2014 campaign, the veteran has struggled down the stretch. In five September starts, Hudson is 0-4 with an 8.72 ERA, leaving his status unknown as the Giants re-position their staff for a potential Division Series if Madison Bumgarner wins the one-game playoff versus Pittsburgh.
