Johnson announced his retirement from professional baseball Saturday in a post on his personal Instagram account.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson ends a 14-year career in the pro ranks that included 43 appearances (five starts) in the majors between 2012 and 2016 as a member of the Orioles and Mariners. The 31-year-old spent the most recent season with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Johnson (undisclosed) was traded from the Orioles to the White Sox on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson will be assigned to Triple-A Charlotte and will presumably fill the void in the rotation that was created by Reynaldo Lopez's promotion to the White Sox. Over 19 games (five starts) at Triple-A Norfolk this season, Johnson has posted a 5.30 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 37.1 innings.

Johnson signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on Saturday, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson returns to Baltimore after spending last season with both the Rangers and the Mariners. The right-hander played three seasons in the Orioles' system, compiling a 4.25 ERA in 27 major league games. He was inconsistent for Seattle last season, posting a 4.32 ERA over 12 relief appearances, but dominating hitters in the minors. Expect him to serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Norfolk to begin the year.

Johnson elected free agency rather than accepting his assignment to Triple-A Tacoma, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson dominated hitters during his time with Triple-A Tacoma, but his performance in the majors left much to be desired. However, the 29-year-old has a knack for striking out batters, so he could garner some interest on the free agent market, although a minor league contract is the most likely signing route for the right-hander.

Johnson was designated for assignment Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson's been lit up lately, giving up seven earned runs over his last 5.1 innings (11.81 ERA), which is a likely reason why Seattle is sending him on assignment. In corresponding roster moves, Jonathan Aro and David Rollins were called up. Johnson will presumably head to Triple-A Tacoma now where he began 2016, repossessing a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through 16 innings.

Johnson was lit up for three earned runs on four hits in one inning of work against the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't a great day for Seattle pitchers, as they combined to allow 14 runs on 19 hits, yet it was particularly bad for Johnson. His ERA rose from 0.79 to 2.92 after his worst outing this season. Nonetheless, Johnson has been a great addition to the Mariners, he has allowed just four runs in twelve innings of work (including Wednesday's appearance) and seems to be a staple in the bullpen.

Johnson had his contract selected by the Mariners on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson landed with the Mariners' organization after being released by the Rangers this offseason and has seen strong results with Triple-A Tacoma so far, registering a 2.25 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 16 innings. He is likely to occupy a middle relief role for the Mariners going forward.

Johnson was released by the Rangers on Monday, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson struggled to a 10.13 ERA in six appearances for the Orioles last season and has apparently failed to impress at the lower levels, despite posting a 2.30 ERA across 54.2 Triple-A innings in 2015. The 28-year-old will look to catch on with another team seeking organizational depth.

Johnson signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson was designated for assignment on December 2 by the Orioles after Mark Trumbo was acquired, and the Rangers became the team to ultimately pounce on the right-hander. The 25-year-old primarily pitched with Triple-A Norfolk last season, posting a 2.30 ERA and 11.1 K/9 in 54.2 innings with the Tides, but also had two rough appearances with Baltimore. Johnson will compete for a spot in the Rangers bullpen during spring training if he can get major league hitters out consistently.

Johnson was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
A 40-man spot was needed with the Mark Trumbo trade finalized, and Johnson was the one who got the bump. The 28-year-old Johnson earned a September callup to Baltimore by posting a 2.30 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 32 appearances with Triple-A Norfolk, but he ended up allowing five walks and two homers in just 5.1 frames with the big club.
