Steve Delabar is dealing with a sore muscle in his right leg, the result of taking a comebacker off the leg in Wednesday's game. Delabar left the game as a precaution, and the muscle was tender after the game. Both Delabar and Blue Jays manager John Gibbons expressed optimism that the injury wouldn't keep the reliever on the sidelines too long, with hope that he'd be ready as soon as this weekend. He's day-to-day for now.

Steve Delabar (shoulder) said he's gone through "normal workouts" this offseason. Delabar dealt with a strained shoulder down the stretch last season, but it sounds like it's a non-issue at this point. "It feels good," Delabar said. "I've been going through normal workouts preparing for the season." Delabar posted a 3.22 ERA with a whopping 82 strikeouts over 58 2/3 innings this past season. He'll help set up for Casey Janssen again in 2014.

Blue Jays placed RHP Steve Delabar on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 3, with right shoulder inflammation. Delabar was roughed up for three runs over his inning of work on Friday, but apparently his shoulder might have been at least partly to blame. It's not clear at this point how long the All-Star reliever might be sidelined. Delabar holds a 2.90 ERA and has struck out 75 over 49 2/3 innings this season.

Steve Delabar came on to record the final out in the Blue Jays' 5-4 win over the Indians on Wednesday. Closer Casey Janssen struggled to lock it down, allowing two runs and putting the winning run on base before Delabar was called on to stop the bleeding. It was Delabar's first career save, good timing for the reliever as he contends for the final spot on the American League's All-Star roster. He now owns a 1.74 ERA this year.

Koji Uehara of the Red Sox is second, David Robertson of the Yankees is third, Joaquin Benoit of the Tigers is fourth and Tanner Scheppers of the Rangers is fifth. This battle of relievers should go down to the wire. Delabar, 29, has a stellar 1.58 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 40 innings this season out of the Blue Jays bullpen. Voting is happening on MLB.com until Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.
