Pryor was outrighted off the 40-man roster Sunday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Pryor's spring training didn't go terribly, allowing just one run over six innings, but it appears the Twins don't think he's ready to be part of the major league roster. The move was likely made to open up a 40-man roster spot for Blaine Boyer and Shane Robinson, who are expected to make the roster out of spring training after coming in as non-roster invitees.

Pryor was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Pryor made five appearances this spring, allowing one run on four hits in six innings with one walk and one strikeout. He lost much of 2013 to shoulder issues and eventually underwent surgery to repair a torn lat, which caused his 2014 season to be delayed until July. He struggled initially last year (4.65 ERA) before finding his form after being traded to the Twins (0.89 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 20.1 innings at Triple-A, but with 16 walks). The Twins likely feel he needs more time in the minors to get back to full speed.

Pryor is in the running for one of Minnesota's final two bullpen spots, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He has a 1.50 ERA but just a 1:1 K:BB ratio in six innings this spring. Pryor is a long shot to win the job as he likely needs to prove he's back to full speed in the minors. Twins acquired RHP Stephen Pryor from the Twins for 1B/DH Kendrys Morales; assigned him to Triple-A Rochester. It's essentially a salary dump. Pryor has spent the majority of the 2014 season at Triple-A Tacoma, where he owns an underwhelming 4.65 ERA in 31 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander could join Minnesota's bullpen soon, but only as a middle reliever.

Stephen Pryor has been placed on Triple-A Tacoma's disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. The hope is that he'll be ready to resume throwing in a week or so. Pryor is working his way back from lat surgery and was optioned to Tacoma last month. Obviously, he won't be an option for the big league bullpen for a while.

Mariners activated RHP Stephen Pryor from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma. Pryor is recovered from lat surgery, but the Mariners want him to work against a lower level of competition before considering him for a major league bullpen spot.

Stephen Pryor (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Jackson on Thursday. Pryor is a bit ahead of schedule in his recovery from major lat surgery, as he's been pitching in games for nearly two weeks. He could rejoin the Mariners' bullpen before the end of the month.
