Victorino was in noticeable pain after crashing into the right field fence at Fenway Park in Friday's game against Baltimore, but manager John Farrell said he's fine, the Boston Globe reports. Victorino was pinch-hit for in the next inning, but Farrell said that had more to do with the matchup, preferring to have Daniel Nava face Orioles righty Darren O'Day.

Victorino went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals. Victorino snapped an 0-for-15 slide with his hit Wednesday.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said the Red Sox will remain cautious with Victorino, who is coming off back surgery in 2014, early in the season, the Boston Herald reports. "He's well aware in advance of games if he's going to be on the field or when we're going to have Nava or Allen Craig in right," Farrell said. "He's working back into everyday play. There's going to be a balance to that. The schedule has something to do with that. Matchups have something to do with that." Farrell can use the health excuse as a way to get at-bats for Daniel Nava and Allen Craig until Victorino is completely healthy or some sort of roster clearing is done. In addition to the log-jam at the major-league level, Boston has Rusney Castillo (currently out with a shoulder injury) and Jackie Bradley performing well at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Victorino is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports. Victorino has only started five of Boston's first eight games, as the team's strong outfield depth has unsurprisingly cut into his at-bats. While the 34-year-old is still the primary option in right field, he'll likely give way to Daniel Nava or Brock Holt at least once or twice per week against right-handed starters. Victorino hasn't done himself any favors with a 2-for-20 start, but he does have three walks and only one strikeout. While Nava is a far superior batter against right-handed pitching, the Red Sox prefer Victorino's defense, especially when playing at home. This will be a situation to watch all season, as Rusney Castillo (shoulder) could eventually push both Victorino and Nava aside.

Victorino is not in the lineup Friday against the Yankees, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports. Victorino has a 2-for-5 career mark against Nathan Eovaldi, Friday's starter for New York, but he'll give way to Daniel Nava in right field. It marks the second time Victorino has sat in four games so far this season, but there has been no word of an injury to this point. It seems manager John Farrell just wants to get another left-handed-hitting option in there for this matchup.

Victorino had two hits, scored a run and knocked in one in Boston's win over Philadelphia on Thursday. He returned to the lineup after getting a night off Wednesday. Victorino may be in and out of the lineup early on, particularly when the weather is sketchy, like the wet and damp night in Philly on Wednesday.

Victorino is back in the lineup Thursday against the Phillies, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports. Although the Red Sox didn't suggest there was anything wrong with Victorino, there was some concern he may be ailing after running into the outfield wall Tuesday. He was held out of the lineup Wednesday in favor of Daniel Nava, but it appears Victorino is fine to occupy his normal spot in the lineup against right-hander David Buchanan.

Victorino will sit out Wednesday's contest against the Phillies, Ryan Lawrence of the Providence Journal reports. Victorino ran into the wall in right field Wednesday, but reported no ill effects afterwards. It's unclear if his absence is related to the collision, but Daniel Nava will start in right field in his place.

Victorino, who collided with the right field wall at Citizens Bank Park during Monday's home opener, said there was no after effects, the Boston Herald reports. Early on this season, every time Victorino extends himself, we're left to wonder if he'll need a few days to recover. In addition to the wall collision, Victorino also stole a base. So far, so good for the oft-injured outfielder.

Victorino had two walks and a stolen base in five plate appearances Monday in Boston's 8-0 win over Philadelphia. Victorino fought off the younger, more dynamic Rusney Castillo to become the starting right fielder, but he wasn't very impressive at the plate during spring training. At this point, we're watching the clock, waiting for Castillo to force his way back up to Boston.
