Greene has lost his job as Atlanta's closer for the time being, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene hasn't been able to find his groove since being dealt to the Braves, so skipper Brian Snitker will hand the closer's role to Mark Melancon for now. Given Greene's track record, he'll likely remain in a high-leverage role and could win back the job at a later date, though Melancon will be the primary closer for now, per Burns. Greene picked up a hold after allowing a hit and retiring one batter via the strikeout Friday night against the Marlins.

Greene (0-3) allowed three runs on four hits with no walks and a strikeout while taking a loss against the Reds on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old isn't off to the best of starts with the Braves. He gave up a run in a blown save Saturday during his Atlanta debut, and then he tossed up a three-run homer in a loss Sunday. Greene is still putting together a very strong season, but his ERA has nearly spiked a run during his first two Braves outings. He owns 22 saves with a 2.03 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 40 innings this season.

Greene gave up a run on three hits and a walk in an inning of relief Saturday to blow his fourth save of the year in a 5-4 extra-inning win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
After an impressive first four months of the season for Detroit in which he compiled a 1.18 ERA and 22-for-25 conversion rate on save chances, Greene had an inauspicious debut for Atlanta, although the club was able to win it in the 10th after his stumble. The right-hander should have a long leash as the club's closer, although it is worth noting he hasn't actually picked up a save since June 29 -- blowing his only two save chances in July for a Tigers squad that didn't have many leads to protect.

Greene confirmed Thursday that he will close for the Braves, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
This isn't all too surprising, as Greene compiled a shiny 1.18 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB in 38 innings with the Tigers prior to being traded to Atlanta. This is a best-case scenario for Greene, who keeps his ninth-inning gig while getting an upgrade in team context. Luke Jackson will move to a setup role as a result.

Greene was traded from the Tigers to the Braves, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the Braves have decent ninth-inning options on hand -- Luke Jackson and the recently acquired Chris Martin -- Greene seems like a good bet to get the bulk of the save opportunities over the rest of the season. The 30-year-old righty, who is a free agent after the 2020 season, logged a 1.18 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB in 38 innings for the Tigers this season. He was 22-for-25 on save chances. This is basically a best-case scenario for Greene's fantasy owners, as he likely keeps a ninth-inning gig while getting an upgrade in team context.

Greene blew the save in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, allowing two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk in an inning of work. He also struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Greene blew just his third save of the season in 25 chances when he allowed a two-run home run to Lourdes Gurriel, though Detroit would rally for the win in extra innings. The 30-year-old reliever has been excellent this year despite the hiccup, as he has a 1.25 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB across 36 innings, making him an ideal trade candidate for the 30-65 Tigers with the July 31 deadline approaching.

Greene gave up a solo home run to Yoan Moncada in the 10th inning to blow his second save of the season during an eventual 9-6 loss to the White Sox in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
His only other blown assignment came May 23 against the Marlins. Greene still boasts a 1.13 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB through 32 innings on the year in addition to his 22 saves, and he remains one of the most likely closers to get shipped to a contender by the trade deadline.

Greene pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn his 22nd save in a 7-5 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old doesn't pitch a whole lot or receive a ton of save opportunities because of his team, but he's been lights out when he has been on the mound. Greene hasn't allowed an earned run since May 3. He is 0-2 and 22-for-23 in save chances with a 0.87 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 31 innings this year.

Greene posted his 21st save of the season despite allowing a hit and a walk in the ninth against the Pirates on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
He was on the verge of disaster with Josh Bell at the plate, two runners on base and only one out, but Greene induced a game-ending double play against the MVP candidate. Greene has now saved 21 of the Tigers' 26 wins this season. He is 0-2 with a 0.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 29 innings this season. Greene is also 21-for-22 in save chances.

Greene worked around a hit and a walk to fire a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't the smoothest outing for Greene, but the Tigers' closer worked out of trouble by inducing a Josh Bell double-play grounder with runners on first and second to end the game. Greene now has 21 saves and a microscopic 0.93 ERA this season, as he continues to enhance his trade value ahead of the deadline.
