Greene's next Triple-A appearance has been pushed back until Tuesday due to back tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in early May and began his minor-league assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on May 22. Manager Brian Snitker compared Greene's injury to tightness that a pitcher might experience during spring training and didn't sound too concerned about the issue. It's not yet clear when Greene will be able to join Atlanta's bullpen.

Greene will make his first appearance with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves have not offered insight into how many minor-league outings Greene will require before he's ready to join their bullpen. Greene has proved his worth as a reliable late-inning reliever in three of the last four seasons and should provide a valuable, right-handed option to the Braves' lefty-heavy bullpen.

Greene agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Atlanta on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old posted a 2.60 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB over 27.2 innings for Atlanta during 2020, but he was unable to find a new team throughout the offseason and early part of 2021. Greene will report to Triple-A Gwinnett, and it's unclear how long he's expected to be in the minors before joining the big-league club.

Greene (1-0) allowed an unearned run and a walk in one inning but earned the win in Friday's extra-innings victory over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The run against Greene came on an Alex Verdugo sacrifice fly in the 11th inning. In the bottom of the 11th, Freddie Freeman hit a walkoff two-run homer to give Greene the win. It's the fourth time in his last six outings that Greene has allowed a run to score, although this one won't show up on his ERA, which stands at 2.70. He's added a 1.13 WHIP, nine holds and 21 strikeouts in 26.2 innings this season.

Greene walked one batter in a scoreless eighth inning during Wednesday's loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has been a dependable arm in the Atlanta bullpen to begin the season. Greene still has not allowed an earned run through eight appearances, and his 7:1 K:BB suggests that's not purely fueled by good luck. Despite his success, however, he hasn't seen a lot of high-leverage work -- Greene has only two holds so far, after recording 23 saves and 10 holds in a 2019 campaign split between Atlanta and Detroit.

Greene retired only two hitters while surrendering four runs on three hits and a walk in Monday's 6-4 exhibition loss to the Phililes.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Brian Snitker said early on in spring training that Greene could be a candidate to pick up saves this season, but Mark Melancon and Will Smith look like the clear top two options to close as Opening Day approaches. Greene has only hurt his case for seizing a late-inning role based on how he's fared so far this spring. Through three appearances in the Grapefruit League, Greene has been tagged for six runs (five earned) while giving up six hits and two walks over 2.2 innings.

Greene was one of three relievers manager Brian Snitker suggested he wouldn't hesitate to use as a closer this season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old was lights-out as Detroit's closer in the first half last year, but he struggled in the role after being acquired by Atlanta and was quickly replaced by Mark Melancon in the ninth. Greene is also likely behind free-agent signee Will Smith in the pecking order, so while Snitker's vote of confidence to begin the spring is nice to see, Greene is a longshot to make a meaningful impact in the save category in 2020.

Greene lost his arbitration case against the Braves on Wednesday. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old will earn $6.25 million this season, compared to the $6.75 million he had requested. Greene struggled with Atlanta down the stretch after being named to the All Star game in 2019, logging a 4.01 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 21 strikeouts across 24.2 innings. The veteran will begin the 2020 season battling Will Smith, Luke Jackson and Chris Martin for save opportunities as the Braves closer.

Greene struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to record his 23rd save of the season -- but his first with Atlanta -- in Friday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Mark Melancon pitched Thursday night and struggled, opening the door for Greene to get his first save chance since Aug. 10, and the former Tigers closer didn't squander the opportunity. Greene seems to have overcome whatever issues he was experiencing following the trade to Atlanta, reeling off 13 straight scoreless appearances with a 14:2 K:BB over that stretch, but whether he's set to reclaim the ninth-inning role he was originally set for when he joined the club or if he will remain Melancon's understudy isn't yet clear.

Greene was charged with the blown save in Saturday's loss to the Marlins after giving up two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning, allowing three inherited runners to score.
EDGE Analysis
Newly-anointed closer Mark Melancon entered with a four-run lead, but he gave up four one-out hits to create the save chance for Greene. The right-hander gave up a bases loaded single and a bases loaded double, but his defense helped him escape when the winning run was thrown out at the plate. Greene now has two blown saves with five runs allowed in his first five appearances (four innings) with the Braves.
