According to Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays nearly dealt Sergio Santos to the Rangers around two weeks ago. The trade, which involved three teams, fell apart after one of the other players involved in the deal failed a physical. It's unclear whether talks will be revived at some point.

Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports that the Blue Jays are expected to activate Sergio Santos (elbow) from the disabled list Thursday. Santos has been out since mid-May after undergoing surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow. He's posted a 6.17 ERA over 12 rehab appearances, but as long as he's feeling healthy, the Jays don't really care about the numbers. He figures to be eased into things in middle relief before possibly moving into a setup role.
