Sean Marshall (shoulder) threw his latest bullpen session Tuesday. Marshall threw 42 pitches at maximum effort while coaches stood in at the plate to simulate batters. "It went great," said Marshall. "I used all of my pitches -- backdoor sliders, curveballs -- mixing pitches like it would be in a game. I'm not sore today." Marshall has been out since late May due to a sprained left shoulder, but he has been throwing for nearly two weeks now. It's not clear when he'll go out on a minor league rehab assignment, but it sounds like he's getting close.

Sean Marshall (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday. It was a 20-pitch mound workout at less than full speed. Marshall has been on the disabled list since May 21 with a shoulder sprain and is easing his way into throwing. "We're trying to get him back to 100 percent then activate him," Reds pitching coach Bryan Price told reporters Saturday. "That's going to be a little while yet."

Sean Marshall (shoulder) felt good Tuesday after pitching off flat ground. "I jammed it out yesterday, 35 pitches," said Marshall, who has been sidelined since May 20 with a lingering shoulder issue. "It felt good. Usually when I take a day off, I get a little bit out of sync but yesterday was good and today should be great." Marshall thinks he could throw a light bullpen session at some point this weekend. The southpaw could return in the early part of July if he can avoid setbacks.

Sean Marshall (shoulder) hopes to begin long-tossing in the next day or so. Marshall's shoulder is feeling good so far, but the left-hander thinks he's probably still at least three weeks away from a return. He's been out since mid-May with a shoulder issue that initially cropped up in spring training.

Sean Marshall (shoulder) has resumed a throwing program. Marshall has been shut down since May 21, but is reportedly "pain-free" and expects to ramp up his throwing activities this week. While it's a step in the right direction, there's still no timetable for his return. The Reds are hoping that he'll rejoin their bullpen before the All-Star break.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Sean Marshall (shoulder) is expected to be out for close to another month. Marshall has on the DL since May 21 with a sprained left shoulder. The Reds are hoping he can return sometime around the All-Star break.

Reds placed LHP Sean Marshall on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a sprained left shoulder. It's the second time this season that the shoulder has sent him to the DL, though the Reds called it tendinitis the first time around. The club figures to take it slowly with Marshall this time, so he could be looking at an extended absence. Manny Parra (pectoral) has been activated and will take Marshall's spot in the bullpen.

Sean Marshall was not available out of the Reds' bullpen on Wednesday due to a "cranky" left shoulder. The Reds don't seem concerned. "We're erring on the side of caution," Marshall said. "I told them I was little sore. We have some very capable arms come out of the bullpen a time or two season so far. ... I needed this extra day of rest. I'll be back to the way I've been feeling."

Reds activated LHP Sean Marshall from the 15-day disabled list. Marshall gave up two hits and struck out four in two innings over his two rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville. After giving his shoulder a rest, the Reds are hoping he'll be an impact arm in the late innings once again.
