Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com has recanted an earlier reported that the Tigers have offered Scott Hairston a two-year deal. Morosi says he "misinterpreted information" earlier. ESPN New York's Adam Rubin has reported that the Tigers will not be signing the outfielder. Hairston is drawing plenty of interest, though, as at least four teams appear to be seriously interested.

ESPN New York's Adam Rubin hears that Scott Hairston will not sign with the Tigers. Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reported that the Tigers have offered Hairston a two-year deal, but he apparently has more appealing possibilities elsewhere. The 32-year-old is coming off a career-year in which he socked 20 homers to go along with an .803 OPS.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that Scott Hairston is drawing "real interest" from the Yankees, Giants, Cardinals, Indians and Tigers. Hairston also hasn't ruled out a return to the Mets. The 32-year-old batted .263/.299/.504 with 20 homers and an .803 OPS this past season and seems likely to land a multi-year deal.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports the Tigers are interested in Scott Hairston. Hairston has already been linked to the Yankees this offseason, and the Mets haven't ruled out bringing him back. In Detroit, he would serve as a right-handed platoon partner for Andy Dirks.

According to the New York Post's Dan Martin, the Yankees are interested in free agent Scott Hairston. With Nick Swisher not expected back next year, the Yankees are considering Hairston for a platoon role with Raul Ibanez. Coming off his most productive offensive season, he's likely to command a raise from the $1.1 million he made in 2012. In addition to the Yankees, the Mets haven't ruled out re-signing Hairston.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Scott Hairston is unlikely to be moved. Hairston was claimed off waivers Monday. The identity of the claiming team isn't yet known, but Rosenthal hears that they were motivated to block Hairston from other clubs. As such, Hairston will likely remain with the Mets for the remainder of the season. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that neither the Giants or the Dodgers won the claim.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Scott Hairston has been claimed off waivers. It's not a big surprise. The Giants could really use him, but it's possible they were blocked by a team with a worse record. The Mets can make a deal with the claiming deal, assign Hairston's contract to the claiming team or simply pull him back from waivers. There should be a resolution in the next 48 hours.

The Mets placed Scott Hairston on trade waivers. The Mets have yet to engage in an extension talks with Hairston, so this could be an indication their willing to trade him. Hairston is owed roughly $234,000 for the remainder of the season and could provide valuable bench depth for a contender. Andres Torres has also been placed on waivers and figures to be available.
