Scott Downs (ankle) tossed a scoreless inning Monday against the A's in his return to action. It was his first appearance since suffering a right ankle contusion when his foot was stepped on by Denard Span while covering first base last Thursday. Downs has yet to allow a run over 3 1/3 innings this season.
