Copeland agreed to a minor-league contract with the Nationals earlier this month, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old has six big-league appearances to his name, one of which came for the Mets in 2018. Copeland otherwise split time between Triple-A Las Vegas and Double-A Binghamton last season, logging a collective 3.43 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 100 strikeouts over 126 frames. He'll likely be ticketed for one of the Nationals' high-minors affiliates at the end of spring training.

Copeland was assigned to Double-A Binghamton on Sunday after he cleared waivers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Copeland didn't draw much interest after being designated for assignment Friday, so he'll head down to the Mets' minor-league system. In one appearance at the major-league level, he tossed 1.1 scoreless innings and recorded two strikeouts.

Copeland was designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Copeland earned a promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, and allowed one hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings for his lone appearances. The 30-year-old should return to Triple-A after being subjected to the waiver wire.

Copeland will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas ahead of Wednesday's game against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Copeland made one start at Triple-A this season, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks across six innings. His only big-league action came in 2015 with Toronto, when he posted a 6.46 ERA with six strikeouts through 15.1 innings.

Copeland was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. Copeland struggled mightily in his start Sunday, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in just 1.1 innings. He joins Ryan Tepera and Phil Coke as the three pitchers all getting demoted Sunday, and will once again serve as organizational depth.

Coepland will make his next start Sunday against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of SportsNet reports. Copeland came up from Triple-A earlier in the week to start in place of Aaron Sanchez (lat strain) on Tuesday, and manager John Gibbons confirmed Thursday that Copeland will get another chance to take the hill Sunday. Copeland allowed three runs on eight hits in only 4.0 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Mets.

Copeland took the loss in Tuesday's start against the Mets, as he allowed three runs on eight hits in just four innings. He struck out one. Copeland didn't walk a batter but got touched up for eight hits. He's a sinkerballer who relies on ground balls, but he showed no ability to miss bats against the Mets -- he induced just two swinging strikes in 77 pitches. Copeland has a 2.57 ERA and could hold on to the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Sanchez for a few weeks, but it's hard to see the fantasy value in his approach -- his K/9 is a brutal 3.2 and was just 5.5 at Triple-A Buffalo.

Copeland will be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and start Tuesday against the Yankees, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports. Copeland tossed seven innings of one-run ball in his first Major League start Wednesday, making him the clear candidate to fill in for Aaron Sanchez, who was placed on the DL Sunday due to a lat strain. With Sanchez set to miss multiple starts, Copeland's time in the majors may last several weeks, especially if he pitches well Tuesday.

Copeland was terrific in his first career major league start Wednesday, going seven innings and allowing only one run on six hits with four strikeouts in a win over the Marlins. He was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo after the game. The sinkerballer kept the ball low throughout the contest, recording 12 groundball outs. It was just a spot start for Copeland with the team opting to skip Aaron Sanchez this time through the rotation, but manager John Gibbons was impressed by the 27-year-old's work. "He definitely opened up everybody's eyes," Gibbons said. "I think everyone thought he was good, but to go out and actually do it, it's only [going to] help him out in the future."

Copeland will be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to start Wednesday's game, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports. He will get a spot start in an effort to manage Aaron Sanchez's innings. While Sanchez has been up and down this year, he will return to the Blue Jays' rotation next week and Copeland will presumably be optioned back to Triple-A following Wednesday's start. He has a 1.97 ERA in 45.2 innings at Triple-A, but has just 28 strikeouts in that span, so the upside is low.
