Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are interested in free agent outfielder Ryan Ludwick. The Mets don't figure to be in the market for big names like Josh Hamilton and Michael Bourn, but they could consider second-tier names as they attempt to address their outfield. Ludwick batted .275/.346/.531 with 26 homers and an .877 OPS this past season and appears likely to land a multi-year deal. The Reds hope to retain him while the Mariners are among the other clubs who have reportedly expressed interest.

Reds manager Dusty Baker said Monday that the club has made an offer to free agent outfielder Ryan Ludwick. No word on the specifics, but they'll need to offer multiple years in order to retain him. The 34-year-old outfielder batted .275/.346/.531 with 26 home runs and 80 RBI in 125 games with the Reds in 2012. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported earlier Monday that the Mariners have checked in on his asking price.

The Mariners have "checked in" on outfielder Ryan Ludwick, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Ludwick, 34, posted an impressive .275/.346/.531 slash line with 26 home runs and 80 RBI in 125 games this past season for Cincinnati. The Reds are hoping to re-sign him but now apparently have some competition.

According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Reds are having ongoing conversations with Ryan Ludwick's agent, Dan Horwits. "We've been in contact," Horwits said. "There's interest on both sides. Hopefully, we can something done. We're talking to other clubs. He has offers from other clubs." Ludwick decline his $5 million option for 2013 and is seeking a multi-year deal. He'd ideally like to net a three-year pact, but it seems unlikely that anyone would give him more than two.

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said he's negotiating with Ryan Ludwick's representatives but is unlikely to give the outfielder more than a two-year deal. He would be silly to go beyond that, and it's unlikely Ludwick will be able to get a three-year deal from anyone else, anyway. The 34-year-old declined his portion of a $5 million mutual option for 2013, but there seems to be a pretty good chance he'll wind up back in Cincy. Jocketty added that he also has interest in bringing back Ryan Madson, Jonathan Broxton and Dioner Navarro.

Ryan Ludwick has declined his part of a $5 million mutual option with the Reds for 2013. Not unexpected after Ludwick batted .275/.346/.531 with 26 home runs, 80 RBI and an .877 OPS this season. He'll receive a $500,000 buyout and test free agency. However, there is mutual interest in getting a new deal done.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Ryan Ludwick will turn down his $5 million mutual option for 2013, but that the Reds will attempt to keep him. Ludwick batted .275/.346/.531 with 26 home runs, 80 RBI and an .877 OPS this season, so it's no surprise that he'll turn down his end of the option in hopes of getting a multi-year deal. However, there is mutual interest in the 34-year-old returning to Cincinnati next season.

Ryan Ludwick belted a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Giants. He also drew a walk. Ludwick's blast, which was his second of the series, pulled the Reds to within one run in the third, but that was as close as they got. Zack Cozart and Joey Votto had a couple hits apiece for the Reds in a losing effort.

Ryan Ludwick is in Monday's lineup against the Cardinals. Ludwick was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to weather conditions, as the Reds didn't want to risk him aggravating his recent groin injury. This will be his first time in the starting lineup since September 19.
