Ryan Doumit is starting in right field for the Twins on Opening Day against the Orioles. Doumit should see playing time at a variety of positions in 2012. And if he's able to stay healthy, he could be highly valuable in fantasy leagues because of that versatility. The 30-year-old switch-hitter registered a .303/.353/.477 batting line with eight homers and 30 RBI in 236 plate appearances last season.

Ryan Doumit went 2-for-5 and hit his second spring homer Saturday against the Pirates. Doumit was expected to be the Twins' primary DH a month ago, but with Justin Morneau now expected to take on that role and Chris Parmelee likely to open the season at first, Doumit's role is very much in flux. He played right field today and figures to see some time there, but an outfield with he and Josh Willingham in the corners would have big, big issues with range. Unless injuries strike, he might not get as much playing time as expected, at least early on.

Twins signed C-1B-OF Ryan Doumit to a one-year, $3 million contract. The deal was officially announced Wednesday. Doumit probably won't see much time behind the plate if Joe Mauer manages to stay healthy, but he is also capable of playing first base and a corner outfield spot. Hopefully the option of the DH will allow him to avoid a trip to the disabled list. The 30-year-old batted .303/.353/.477 with eight home runs, 30 RBI and an .830 OPS over 236 plate appearances this season.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Twins have signed Ryan Doumit to a one-year, $3 million contract. FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi has confirmed the signing. The deal would also include performance bonuses and is pending a physical. Although injury-prone, getting Doumit's bat for $3 million looks like a good deal for the Twins. He figures to spend most of his time in the DH slot but can also fill in at catcher, first base and in the outfield.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that free agent Ryan Doumit has narrowed his list to two teams and expects to make a decision between them on Friday. The Twins are known to have interest, though it's not clear if they're one of the two finalists. Doumit would be a nice fit for an American League club as a designated hitter while occasionally filling in at catcher, first base and in the outfield. He batted .303/.353/.477 over 77 games for the Pirates in 2011.

Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins have made contact with Matt Sosnick, the agent for Ryan Doumit and Josh Willingham. Talks are considered preliminary in nature, but the Twins would likely intensity their pursuit of Doumit and Willingham (and Jason Kubel) if they are unable to re-sign Michael Cuddyer. Doumit is regarded as a poor defensive catcher, but also has experience playing first base and right field. Willingham, who slugged 29 homers with Oakland this season, could prove to be too costly for Minnesota.

Ryan Doumit declined a one-year deal for almost $3 million from the Dodgers, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Angels still haven't contacted Doumit, according to the report. Doumit has received multiple offers since the Pirates declined his $7.25 million option at the end of October. The 30-year-old is a poor defensive catcher and is injury prone, but teams like his offensive potential. He'd be a good fit for the American League, where he could split time between DH and backstop. The switch-hitter batted .303/.353/.477 over 77 games this season.

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, Ryan Doumit could sign a deal within the "next few days." Doumit has received multiple major league offers since the Pirates declined his $7.25 million option at the end of October. The 30-year-old is a poor defensive catcher and has battled a range of injuries, but teams have apparently fallen in love with his offensive potential. He'd be a good fit for the American League, where he could split time between DH and backstop.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, Ryan Doumit has received multiple contract offers and expects to sign by the end of November. The Pirates declined Doumit's $7.25 million late last month, but he shouldn't have any trouble finding a new home this winter. The 30-year-old is considered a poor defensive catcher, but he also has experience playing first base and right field. The switch-hitter batted .303/.353/.477 over 77 games this season and could be a good fit with an American League where he could split time at DH. Crasnick hears that he is looking for a one-year deal, which should be palatable for several teams.

Ryan Doumit's agent, Matt Sosnick, told Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com that his client is open to signing as a catcher, outfielder or designated hitter. Doumit is poor defensively behind the plate, but, of course, his bat plays up much better there. He batted .303/.353/.477 last season but was limited to just 77 games and has been injury-prone throughout his career. He might wind up having to play a few different positions as he did with the Pirates.
