Ohlendorf signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, the Japan Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ohlendorf struggled with a 4.66 ERA for the Reds last season in 64 games out of the bullpen. At age 34 next season, he may finish his career in Japan.

Ohlsdorf poured gasoline on the fire in Monday's cataclysmic ninth inning collapse against the Cardinals, allowing two inherited runners to score on a walk and a hit-batter to blow a save chance.
EDGE Analysis
Tony Cingrani began the inning with a 4-0 lead, but with two outs allowed a bases loaded single to score two runs, and then allowed another run to score before Ohlendorf came on with the bases loaded. But Ohlendorf's control abandoned him in the clutch as well.

Ohlendorf retired one batter to earn his second save of the year Friday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
After Reds' closer Tony Cingrani had allowed one run and loaded the bases with two outs, Ohlendorf came on to protect a one-run lead, and promptly got Ryan Braun to pop out to end the game. The Reds' setup man now has a 4.04 ERA to go along with a 1.25 WHIP on the season.

Ohlendorf allowed two hits, but he recorded his first save of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds bullpen has been atrocious and leads have been hard to come by for Cincinnati, so it's hard for owners to justify carrying a Reds relief pitcher. Ohlendorf has been used mostly as a middle reliever, but he could see more save opportunities moving forward. He is 1-for-2 in save chances with a 4.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in 27.2 innings this season.

Ohlendorf won the appeal of his suspension and fine from the incident on May 11 and will have both revoked, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ohlendorf was initially handed a three-game suspension after hitting Pirates third baseman David Freese with a pitch after both benches had been warned, although it seems that Major League Baseball found his case to be satisfactory enough to revoke the sentence. With the appeal process out of the way, the right-hander should continue to act as the setup man in the Cincinnati bullpen.

Ohlendorf was served a three-game suspension on Friday but he will appeal, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ohlendorf was ejected from Wednesday's game in the ninth inning after hitting Pirates third baseman David Freese with a pitch after the benches had already been warned. He will appeal the suspension, meaning the suspension will be delayed, but if the suspension ultimately sticks, Black Wood or Caleb Cotham could fill into the setup role in the bullpen.

Ohlendorf pitched the ninth inning Wednesday and gave up an unearned run to get the loss. He allowed two hits and hit a batter.
EDGE Analysis
It's noteworthy that Reds manager Bryan Price brought Tony Cingrani in the eighth inning, and Cingrani gave up a game-tying homer. Price has suggested that there's no set role for the closer, but that Cingrani and Ohlendorf are most likely to pitch in the eighth or ninth. Cingrani has had two save chances in the last week, but Ohlendorf could still be part of the picture.

Ohlendorf won his third game of the season Wednesday after pitching a perfect ninth inning in a tie game, then seeing the Reds rally in the bottom of the inning.
EDGE Analysis
While Ohlendorf pitched well Wednesday, he's gotten those three wins despite not pitching well overall, with an 8.22 ERA so far. Nonetheless, as one of the few quasi-veterans in the bullpen, it's possible that he could get a look in the Reds' closer committee.

Ohlendorf agreed to a one-year contract with the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Ohlendorf opted out of his minor-league contract with the Royals last week in hopes of finding a big-league job, and he was able to do just that. He figures to pitch in middle-to-long relief for the Reds.

Ohlendorf was granted his release by the Royals on Wednesday, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had hoped to crack the Royals' Opening Day bullpen, but he opted out of his minor league deal Monday, forcing the Royals to either add him to their active roster or grant his release. They've opted to go with the latter, so Ohlendorf will now look to catch on with another organization willing to give the 33-year-old a chance.
