Detwiler will lose his starting spot to Dylan Covey on Saturday against the Angels, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Covey isn't particularly young at 28 years old, but he's still notably younger than the 33-year-old Detwiler, so it may be hard for Detwiler to get opportunities for the rebuilding White Sox the rest of the way. The veteran has recorded a poor 6.79 ERA in 54.1 innings this season.

Detwiler (2-5) took the loss against the Indians on Monday, giving up four earned runs on four hits over 2.2 innings, walking six without recording a strikeout in an 11-3 loss for the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler just couldn't find the strike zone in this one, as he issued a season-high six free passes, pumping his pitch count up to 81 before he exited the contest after just 2.2 innings. He now carries an ugly 6.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 40:22 K:BB across 54.1 innings.

Detwiler (2-4) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over four innings to take the loss against Minnesota on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off his best start of the season, Detwiler was handed an early 1-0 lead after one inning but ceded three runs in the second and two more in the third. His ERA rose to 5.96, but Detwiler's expected to take the ball every fifth day for the time being. He'll make his next start Monday on the road against Cleveland.

Detwiler (2-3) earned the win Thursday after holding the Rangers to one run on three hits with eight strikeouts over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
It was a solid bounce-back performance for the southpaw, who had allowed eight runs over his last two starts. Detwiler did not issue any walks en route to recording a career-high eight strikeouts and earning his first win since June 28 against the Twins. The 33-year-old will take a 5.51 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB into a rematch against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Manager Rick Renteria said Detwiler will start Thursday against the Rangers, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler has allowed eight runs over his past two starts (7.2 innings) and owns an unsightly 6.10 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 27:12 K:BB in 41.1 big-league innings this season.

Detwiler allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three across 4.2 innings Wednesday against Houston. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler allowed at least one run in his first three innings, though he did retire the last five batters he faced prior to an error by Jose Abreu. He held the Astros to two extra-base hits, but was hurt in the third inning when the first three batters he faced reached base on singles. Detwiler has had a fluid role this season, though this was his third consecutive appearance as a starter and he is now fully stretched out. Overall, he has a 5.63 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 25 strikeouts across 38.1 innings for the season. He'll draw his next start Tuesday at Minnesota.

Detwiler (1-3) allowed two runs on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts across 5.1 innings while taking a loss against the Athletics on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old gave up two home runs, but that's it, as he avoided any of the walks from coming around to score. Detwiler has lost two straight and yielded four homers in his last pair of starts, but he also owns a respectable 3.27 ERA during that stretch. However, it's unlikely Detwiler continues to post that decent ERA if he keeps giving up homers, especially with that amount of walks. This season, he owns a 5.35 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 33.2 innings. Detwiler will start next at home Wednesday against the Astros.

Detwiler will start Friday against the Athletics, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler will stick in the rotation for at least one more turn through after allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six across 5.2 innings in a losing effort to the Phillies over the weekend. It remains to be seen whether the veteran left-hander will get another start beyond Friday's outing, though that could depend on how he fares.

Detwiler is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Phillies, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll step in as the White Sox's new fifth starter in place of Dylan Covey, who was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte after failing to record an out while giving up five runs in his outing last weekend versus the Twins. Detwiler came on in relief in that same game and served up two runs over two innings, but that was apparently good enough for him to earn another look in Chicago's rotation. Detwiler hasn't surpassed 50 pitches in any appearance since July 18, so he'll likely be subjected to some sort of workload restriction Saturday, hurting his chances of factoring into any decision.

Manager Rick Renteria said after Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Royals that Detwiler would likely be moved back to the bullpen and replaced in the rotation by Dylan Covey next week, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a two-week stint in the bullpen, Detwiler surprisingly re-entered the rotation Thursday but didn't find much success, lasting just 2.1 innings and surrendering five runs on eight hits and a walk. Covey, meanwhile, came on to allow only one run over 2.2 innings of long relief, a performance that was apparently good enough to earn him another crack at a starting role. Covey and Detwiler appear set to swap roles again as the White Sox continue to search for solutions both in the bullpen and at the back end of the rotation.
