Kieschnick cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. With no team willing to take a flier on Kieschnick after he was designated for assignment last week, the 27-year-old will head to Salt Lake to serve as organizational depth. Kieschnick has hit .276/.339/.508 in parts of three seasons at Triple-A, but has done little to speak of in his 63 career games at the major league level (.200/.265/.248).

Kieschnick was designated for assignment by the Angels on Friday. The Angels needed to open up a spot on the 40-man roster, and now Kieschnick will pass through the waiver process.
