Brantly went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
He's having a good spring at the plate in his limited opportunities, going 8-for-18 with three homers, but with Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki ahead of him on the depth chart, Brantly will begin the season at Triple-A Gwinnett. If injuries create a spot for him with the Braves, though, the 28-year-old does have some upside with his bat.

Brantly signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Friday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantly spent time with the Reds and White Sox in 2017, mostly at the Triple-A level, as the 28-year-old appeared in just 14 major-league games. He did a fine job at each stop, and slashed .290/.389/.516 with two home runs and five RBI during his brief time with Chicago in the big leagues. Moving forward, he will likely provide organizational depth for the Braves while starting the season with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Brantly was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, and will become a minor-league free agent following the conclusion of the 2017 season.
EDGE Analysis
Brantly spent a majority of the 2017 season in Triple-A, but wound up appearing in 14 games at the big-league level with Chicago. During that span, the catcher went 9-for-31 from the plate with one double, two home runs and five RBI. This move takes Brantly off the 40-man roster, dropping Chicago to 33 for the time being, as he becomes a free agent.

Brantly went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
This was Brantly's first homer and second extra-base hit since his contract was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte in late August. He's appeared in 12 games (seven starts), but has yet to start consecutive games. If you're trolling for catching help in the final days of the season, you should look past the 28-year-old Brantly.

Brantly had his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Brantly was summoned to the White Sox to take the place of Nicky Delmonico, who was sent to the disabled list with a sprained wrist in a corresponding move. He's put together a respectable .290/.350/.442 slash line with 10 homers in 82 games between Triple-A Louisville and Charlotte. If he performs well, he could earn some at-bats as the designated hitter while Delmonico is on the shelf.

The White Sox signed Brantly to a minor-league contract Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Brantly, who was recently released by the Reds, will get another chance to win a major-league role with a familiar club. He was with the White Sox in 2015, running through the minors with a .310/.335/.483 combined line with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte but batting just .121/.167/.242 in 36 plate appearances. Given how underwhelming Chicago's catcher picture has been, he could work his way back up to the majors before the end of the 2017 season.

The Reds released Brantly on Friday, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantly holds a career major-league line of .225/.286/.317 in 392 plate appearances but rattled off a .298/.335/.435 stint in 179 plate appearances for Triple-A Louisville this season. Perhaps the soon-to-be 28-year-old will garner interest from another organization. Meanwhile, for Cincinnati, Stuart Turner likely will stick as the No. 3 option behind Devin Mesoraco and Tucker Barnhart.

Brantly was reassigned to minor league camp Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following this move, Rule 5 pick Stuart Turner now appears locked in as the backup to Tucker Barnhart to begin the year with Devin Mesoraco (hip) still working himself back to full strength. Brantly, a .225/.286/.317 career hitter at the major league level, went 10-for-31 with two doubles, four walks and five strikeouts in 19 Cactus League games.

The Reds will go north with only two catchers and won't consider beginning the season with three catchers.
EDGE Analysis
This doesn't mean that the team won't consider adding Brantly to the team, but rather they will either have Devin Mesoraco up to speed enough that he can catch half the time, or he'll begin the year on the DL. Given that Mesoraco just started game action Sunday, this remains an open issue.

Brantly signed a minor league contract with the Reds on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old catcher has made a few appearances in the big leagues, although he hasn't been able to translate his bat to the majors for the most part. Pair this with the plethora of other catchers in the Reds system, and it seems like Brantly will spend another year as organizational depth.
