Weeks was informed Tuesday that he had won an Opening Day roster spot with the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After being limited to bench duty for nearly a week due to an ankle sprain, Weeks will return to left field and the five-hole against lefty Brandon Finnegan. He will likely continue to serve on the short end of a platoon moving forward.

Week (ankle) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Braves.

This marks Weeks' fifth straight absence from the lineup but he has appeared off the bench in each of the last three games, which would suggest he's not in immediate danger of landing on the DL.
