Weeks was informed Tuesday that he had won an Opening Day roster spot with the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since Weeks was attending camp as a non-roster invitee, the Rays will need to clear a spot for him on the 40-man roster. The 34-year-old earned his way onto the roster by displaying impressive pop during the spring, and is expected to serve on the smaller side of a platoon at first base with Logan Morrison. Weeks may also occasionally see at-bats at DH when Corey Dickerson is out of the lineup.

Weeks went 2-for-3 with a two-run double, solo home run and two runs in Tuesday's 10-6 Grapefruit League split-squad victory over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has been tearing the cover off the ball all spring, with Tuesday merely serving as the latest example. Weeks' third homer of spring was of the opposite-field variety and came off Yankees starter Luis Severino. The outing brought his spring line to a stellar .500/.571/1.222 over 18 at-bats, while the trio of RBI vaulted him into the team lead.

Weeks went 2-for-2 with a pair of run-scoring doubles and one run in Friday's 5-2 Grapefruit League win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Weeks, who manager Kevin Cash had stated would have to hit his way onto the roster, now boasts a .700 average (7-for-10) with three doubles, two home runs, six RBI and six runs over five spring games, all while also learning to play first base. The 34-year-old, who has extensive experience at second base during his long career, is striving to become the right-handed side of a platoon with Logan Morrison at first, and believes the defensive adjustment is one he'll master. "I played the infield for a long time," he said. "(Fielding) ground ball's nothing. Just learning positioning. Just be in the right spot. That's the main thing for me."

Weeks went 3-for-3 with a double, three-run homer and three runs overall in Tuesday's 19-0 Grapefruit League win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran filled the DH role in Tuesday's blowout and continued his white-hot hitting by taking the Twins' Felix Jorge deep in the third with Corey Dickerson and Brad Miller aboard. Factoring in Tuesday's production, Weeks is hitting .833 with Tuesday's double, two homers, four RBI and four runs over his first three spring games.

Weeks went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-3 Grapefruit League win over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Weeks started at first base, where he's expected to platoon with Logan Morrison this coming season, and hit out of the three-hole in the order. He unloaded off reliever Marcus Walden with one out in the third for his first round-tripper of spring while also turning in a clean defensive performance at his new position, two encouraging signs with respect to the team's expectations for the veteran offseason acquisition.

Weeks, who reported to Rays camp Friday, was at first base in his initial workout, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old has extensive experience at second base and also was deployed in the outfield with the Diamondbacks last season, but will be acclimating to a new position in his 14th major league campaign. With the news that manager Kevin Cash has decided on Brad Miller as his second baseman, Weeks will be left to platoon with Logan Morrison at first base. Considering his solid .284/.368/.642 line and superb .419 wOBA against southpaws in 2016, the veteran could offer some serviceable production in his new role this coming season.

Weeks will be counted on to serve as a "pretty big bat" against left-handed pitching according to manager Kevin Cash, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slashed .284/.368/.642 with a .358 ISO and .419 wOBA in 76 plate appearances against southpaws last season, and boasts a .370 wOBA for his career against lefties. Therefore, Cash's optimism in that regard is well-founded, but it remains to be seen if Weeks can perform well enough as a non-roster invitee to secure a roster spot, and if so, any semblance of regular playing time. The 34-year-old saw action in 97 games as a left fielder in Arizona last season, and was deployed in right field for five other contests. Weeks also handled the DH role for 22 games, but he faces a relatively crowded field at all of those positions in Tampa to begin spring training. With his 2017 outlook far from certain, the exhibition slate should go a long way in sorting out Weeks' situation.

Weeks signed a minor league deal with the Rays on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was predominantly used as a left fielder and pinch hitter with the Diamondbacks last season, and from a real life standpoint, he was a replacement level player. The Rays already have very crowded outfield and designated hitter situations, so Weeks is likely to spend most of 2017 serving as organizational depth.

Weeks (ankle) is back in the lineup Friday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
After being limited to bench duty for nearly a week due to an ankle sprain, Weeks will return to left field and the five-hole against lefty Brandon Finnegan. Weeks has a 300-plus point lefty/righty OPS split this season, with a .992 mark against left-handed pitching compared to a .673 mark against righties. He will likely continue to serve on the short end of a platoon moving forward.

Week (ankle) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
This marks Weeks' fifth straight absence from the lineup but he has appeared off the bench in each of the last three games, which would suggest he's not in immediate danger of landing on the DL. That said, it's uncertain when Weeks will be well enough to field a position for a full nine innings. He suffered a "mild" ankle sprain last weekend.
