FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal writes that the Rockies could release Ramon Hernandez if they are unable to find a trade partner. The Rockies are expected to carry Yorvit Torrealba as a backup to Wilin Rosario, so there figures to be a resolution this week. The 36-year-old is due $3.2 million this season, so it may be tough to attract much interest unless they cover a portion of the contract. He wouldn't have any trouble finding a home if he hit free agency, though.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Angels, Pirates, Rays and Phillies are interested in Ramon Hernandez. The Rockies would surely love to get out from under Hernandez's $3.2 million salary since they have other options to back up Wilin Rosario in Yorvit Torrealba and Jordan Pacheco. The Rays and Phillies would probably be the best spots for Hernandez in terms of potential playing time, as Tampa is slated to use Jose Molina as its regular catcher and Philly could use him as a fill-in while Carlos Ruiz serves his suspension.

Ramon Hernandez lost 20 pounds over the winter. Hernandez required surgery last September to repair a ruptured left hamstring tendon and has dropped some weight to ease the burden on his legs. The 36-year-old is expected to function as a backup to Wilin Rosario this season, so he's unlikely to be relevant outside of NL-only leagues.

Ramon Hernandez (hamstring) will play for his native Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. Hernandez is coming back from September surgery to repair a ruptured left hamstring tendon, but the recovery has obviously gone well enough that he feels comfortable playing in the WBC. The Rockies on Thursday added some insurance behind Hernandez and Wilin Rosario when they signed Yorvit Torrealba.

Ramon Hernandez (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday. Hernandez ruptured his left hamstring tendon earlier this week, and is out for the remainder of the year. Considering the severity of the injury, he could struggle to be medically cleared in time for spring training.

Ramon Hernandez ruptured his left distal hamstring tendon Monday and is done for the rest of the season. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed the injury. Hernandez is scheduled to undergo surgery next week and may struggle to get back to 100 percent health by the start of spring training next February. The 36-year-old is under contract with the Rockies in 2013 at a $3.2 million rate. He'll again be an expensive backup to Wilin Rosario.

Ramon Hernandez underwent another MRI on his left hamstring Wednesday. Evidently the Rockies didn't get a good enough look from the first one. The results of the exam are not yet known, but the team has previously expressed concern that Hernandez's season could be over. The Rox will go with Wilin Rosario on an everyday basis behind the plate, with Jordan Pacheco backing up.

Ramon Hernandez left Monday's game after four innings with a left hamstring strain. Hernandez pulled up lame after hitting a ground-rule double in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wilin Rosario replaced him on the basepaths and behind the plate.
